The Ramadan lecture, which was organised by Alhaja Elebute during her lifetime, has been advanced by her children after her demise in 2024.
Children of late Elebute, members of ALFath uL Qareeb worldwide, and different Asalatu groups graced the occasion.
Speaking on the topic, Gratitude: Its Meaning and Essence, the guest lecturer, Alh. Qasim Badrudeen emphasized the relevance of gratitude in the lives of Muslims.
He said: “As Muslims, we must always express gratitude verbally and in actions. We can show our gratitude quietly in our minds. We can express it verbally, and we can show with our actions and the things we do. However, it’s best we make expressions of gratitude with our words and actions a habit.
He noted that Allah Himself commands gratitude in the Qur’an as He says: “Remember me.I will remember you, and show gratitude to me, and don’t be ungrateful.”
He asserts that Allah Himself is a grateful God.
“Allah shows gratitude to His servants by rewarding their rewarding their good deeds in manifolds. He encourages them to engage in more good deeds.
He added that gratitude paves the way for greater blessings and prompts rewards on the day of recompense.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Missioner of ALFath uL Qareeb worldwide, Alh. (Dr) Fadhlu-r-Rahman Kehinde Tijani commented on the gratitude as it relates to the Elebute family.
He said: “Gratitude should be part and parcel of the Elebute family because every member has reasons to be grateful. This cause that you have upheld is indeed a noble one. Not everyone is opportune enough to achieve something like this. For that reason, you owe Allah some appreciation for making this possible.”
He noted that it was pertinent for the Qareeb family to honour Alhaja Elebute during the maiden edition of the lecture in her honour, as she was a vibrant member of the organisation during her lifetime.
“Alhaja Sidikat Adunni Elebute was a very active member of ALFath uL Qareeb worldwide. She was our Iya-Adinni during her lifetime. This is the first public lecture held in her memory, and that’s why we have come to grace the occasion. We have come to show her respect.
“Moreover, we have come to hear the words of Allah, and every step in that light takes one closer to eternal bliss. It’s an invitation to success; so we honoured. We’ve been sermonised to be appreciative, and may we always have reasons to be grateful to the Almighty.”
He described the late Elebute as a fervent prayer warrior. Therefore, he urged her children and everyone who knew her to follow her footsteps.
The Chief Imam of Ajumoni Central Mosque, Ladipo, Alhaji Hamzat Opeyemi disclosed that Alhaja Elebute was the epitome of humility till her last breath.
He said: “There’s so much to say about Alhaja Elebute, but one I’d like to note is that she always humbled herself for the cause of Allah, and He elevated her. I’d advise that we all emulate her humility. Let’s try to humble ourselves and see how Allah will elevate us in ranks.
“It is Allah that promotes and demotes.”
Alh. Hamzat, who doubles as the Chief Missioner of Mohammed Taofik Islamic Foundation MOTIF, where the late Alhaja Elebute held her Ramadan Tafsir annually before her demise, disclosed that she was an epitome of humility till her breath.
He implored the children of Alhaja Elebute to continually advance their mother’s legacy.
The first daughter of the late amazon, Alhaja Islamiyat Olayinka Ogungbo nee Elebute, said her mother, was generous to a fault.
“My mother was indeed a great mother. Whoever goes to her with a heavy heart leaves wearing a giant smile. If I had another opportunity to come to this world again, I’d choose Alhaja Elebute as my mum. As big as I am, my mum still showed how much she cared.
“Alhaja gave without hesitation. My mum didn’t even have an account. She gave generously to everyone around her,” she added.
