Tens of thousands of Palestinians gathered at Al-Aqsa Mosque earlier today to perform Eid al-Adha prayers, despite a heavy Israeli security presence at the gates and across occupied East Jerusalem. Worshippers filled the mosque compound and surrounding areas in a show of unity and resilience amid ongoing tensions in the city.

Prominent Muslim leaders have rejoiced with their citizens as well as the Muslims across the world on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha 1446 AH.

The Eid Al-Adha is one of Islam’s two most significant celebrations. It symbolises the historic sacrifice and faith of Prophet Ibrahim and his household.

The festival also coincides with the peak of the Hajj rites and is commemorated with the slaughtering of sacrificial animals, including rams, cows, and others.

In his own congratulatory message, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin AbdulAziz Al Saud, prayed that the “Eid Al-Adha bring goodness, peace, and love to the Muslim Ummah and the entire world.”

King Salman praised Almighty Allah for the blessing and honour of the service of the Two Holy Mosques.

“We pray that He accepts the Hajj, rites, and acts of worship of the pilgrims to His Sacred House. Wishing you all a blessed Eid,” he said.

For his part, the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in a X post, extended greetings to citizens and residents of the State of Qatar, and to the Arab and Islamic nations.

He prayed to Allah to return the Eid with goodness, blessings, and prosperity.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the Eid Al-Adha period as a time to renew faith and strengthen human bonds.

He congratulated the Muslim community in Turkey and the world at large, calling for unity, compassion and global solidarity.

“May Eid bring prosperity to our country, our nation, and all of humanity,” he wrote in a message shared in social media platform X.

As it has become his trademark, President Erdogan used the opportunity to spotlight the plight of Palestinians and throw his weight behind them.

He reaffirmed Turkiye’s support for Gaza in the face of Israel’s relentless and ruthless genocide, while also hailing the resilience of the Palestinian citizens.

The inclusion of Gaza in his Eid greeting wasn’t just symbolic – it underscored Ankara’s ongoing humanitarian aid missions to conflict zones like Gaza and Syria, particularly during religious holidays.

Under Erdoğan’s leadership – first as prime minister from 2003 and then as president since 2014 – Türkiye has consistently aligned national holidays with broader messages of faith-driven diplomacy and global outreach.

His Eid message, tying local tradition to international empathy, reinforces Ankara’s image as a bridge between Muslim communities and the global stage.

The President, meanwhile, called for generosity among Turkiye citizens in the spirit of the Eid Al-Adha to promote social cohesion.
