The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has extended warm felicitations to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement jointly signed by its President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and Executive Secretary, Professor Wole Abbas, the apex Muslim body in the South West congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of this year’s Hajj rites in Saudi Arabia and the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.
Reflecting on the spiritual significance of the festival, MUSWEN described Eid-el-Kabir as a period of deep reflection, obedience, and sacrifice inspired by the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
“Eid-el-Kabir represents a period of deep reflection, obedience, and ultimate sacrifice, inspired by the profound devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). We urge all Muslims to embody the core values of selflessness, patience, and charity, especially by sharing meals and extending kindness to the less privileged during this sacred season,” the statement read.
While celebrating the festival, MUSWEN expressed concern over the persistent security challenges facing different parts of the country.
The organisation stressed that peace and security remain essential for meaningful economic growth and social development, urging the Federal Government, state governments, and security agencies to intensify efforts towards protecting lives and property.
MUSWEN also called for a more proactive and intelligence-driven approach to addressing banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency across the country, noting that Nigerians should be able to travel and go about their lawful activities without fear.
The body appealed to citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities within their communities.
According to the statement, national security is a collective responsibility that requires both prayers and active civic participation from all citizens.
Furthermore, MUSWEN emphasised the importance of good governance, equitable distribution of resources, and people-oriented policies capable of addressing insecurity, economic hardship, and inadequate infrastructure.
“MUSWEN urges those in authority to prioritise the welfare of the masses and ensure that the promises of democracy translate into tangible benefits for all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation,” the statement added.
The organisation further urged Muslims in the South West to continue to be law-abiding, contribute positively to national development, and pray for the country’s leaders as they navigate governance challenges.
