The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) and the Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC) have joined the growing list of Muslim organisations congratulating Barrister Hassan Taiwo Fajimite, Esq. on his election as the National President of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN), describing his emergence as a victory for the Ummah and the legal profession.
In a statement jointly signed by its President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and Executive Secretary, Professor Wole Abbas, MUSWEN described Fajimite’s election as a landmark development for Muslims in Nigeria, particularly within the legal profession.
The group said Barr. Fajimite’s unwavering commitment to Islam, professional excellence and principled leadership make him well suited to lead MULAN at a critical period.
“MUSWEN views Barrister Fajimite’s emergence as a landmark development for the Muslim community in Nigeria, particularly within the legal profession. His long-standing dedication to the cause of Islam, combined with his professional excellence and principled leadership, makes him the ideal person to steer MULAN at this critical time,” the statement read.
The organisation added that Fajimite has consistently demonstrated integrity, piety and a deep sense of responsibility towards the Ummah, expressing confidence that his leadership would strengthen MULAN’s role in protecting the rights of Muslim lawyers, promoting justice rooted in Islamic principles and advancing the rule of law.
MUSWEN also commended members of MULAN for entrusting Fajimite with the leadership of the association and prayed that Allah grants him wisdom, strength and divine guidance to discharge his responsibilities successfully.
The umbrella body further urged Muslim lawyers across the country to support the new leadership and reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with MULAN in areas of legal advocacy, education and the protection of Muslims’ rights.
Similarly, the Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC), under the leadership of its President-General, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu, congratulated Fajimite on what it described as his historic election.
In a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Asiwaju (Balogun) Kamal’deen Akintunde, Esq., the council described Fajimite’s emergence as a source of pride for Ogun State and a fitting recognition of his longstanding commitment to defending the rights and interests of Muslims.
The council praised the new MULAN President for distinguishing himself in the legal profession through his Da’wah activities and unwavering advocacy for justice.
“As a Council, we are deeply proud to celebrate one of our very own. Alhaji Fajimite is a distinguished ambassador of the Gateway State whose monumental elevation to this national office is a well-deserved feat,” the statement said.
OMC specifically highlighted Fajimite’s pro bono role as lead counsel representing Muslim parents in the University of Ibadan International School hijab litigation, describing it as one of his notable contributions to the protection of the constitutional rights of Muslims.
The council expressed confidence that Fajimite’s tenure would strengthen MULAN as a formidable legal institution and an effective platform for defending the rights of Muslims across Nigeria.
It also prayed that Almighty Allah blesses his tenure with wisdom, guidance and outstanding success.
