Muslim female entrepreneurs and business owners have explored ways to strengthen their businesses, expand professional networks and create economic opportunities at the third edition of the Muslimah Business Connect Exhibition organised by Al-Mu’minaat, The Believing Women Organisation, Alimosho Zone.

The event, held at Government Technical College, Ikotun, Lagos, on Sunday, November 1, 2026, brought together Muslim women from Alimosho, Igando-Ikotun, Isolo-Ejigbo, Oshodi and other areas.

The exhibition provided a platform for business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs and women seeking practical business knowledge to showcase products and services, exchange ideas, pitch proposals and connect with potential customers and partners.

Muslim women urged to emulate Khadijah

Welcoming participants, the Head of Alimosho District, Hajia Nimatullah Sulayman, described the exhibition as an opportunity for Muslim women to take active roles in shaping their economic future.

She said the gathering brought together women with ideas, ambitions and the capacity to contribute meaningfully to economic development.

Hajia Sulayman urged participants to draw inspiration from Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA), the wife of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who was renowned for her successful business ventures and devotion to Islam.

She also challenged the misconception that women must choose between formal employment and entrepreneurship, noting that both could complement each other.

“Our mother, Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA), was a successful entrepreneur whose trade thrived alongside her immense nobility and devotion to deen,” she said.

The district head explained that paid employment could provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the capital, discipline and transferable skills needed to establish and grow businesses.

Hajia Sulayman encouraged participants to remain committed to their aspirations, assuring them that Allah rewards sincere efforts. She also appreciated the sponsors and supporters who contributed to the programme.

Islamic principles of business partnership

Speaking on Partnership: Islamic Perspective, a Director at the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Alhaja Ameenah Abdus-Sattaar, urged Muslim women to approach business partnerships with professionalism, transparency and proper documentation to prevent disputes.

She advised partners to clearly establish their respective contributions, responsibilities, profit-sharing arrangements and procedures for resolving disagreements or ending the partnership.

“Let’s always ensure proper documentation. Profit-sharing ratios must be well decided and documented to prevent future disagreements. Don’t ignore anything because the other partner is a close ally or relative. Ask questions, seek clarification and don’t mix business with pleasure,” she said.

Alhaja Abdus-Sattaar explained that Islamic teachings emphasise documenting financial transactions and ensuring fairness in the sharing of profits and losses.

She noted that partners could make different contributions to a business, including capital, labour, business premises or land, stressing the need to recognise these contributions and agree on how they would be accounted for.

Alhaja Abdus-Sattaar also reminded participants that partnership was an amanah (trust) from Allah, requiring honesty, accountability and financial transparency.

“Be open. Don’t hide information about the business from your partner. Shun deceit and stay away from treachery. Don’t sell faulty goods without disclosure. If your partner is not watching, your Lord is aware,” she said.

Businesswomen urged to pitch ideas confidently

Also speaking, renowned businesswoman, Hajia Lateefah Adekunle encouraged participants to cultivate positive habits, build expertise and develop confidence in presenting their business ideas to potential investors and partners.

She identified consistency, discipline and reliability as essential qualities that distinguish successful entrepreneurs.

“Build expertise with daily habits. The success people record is a result of habits which they’ve built over time. Pray as if you’re not working and work as if you’re not praying. Opportunities come your way when you’re reliable and you’ve cultivated laudable habits,” she said.

Hajia Adekunle urged entrepreneurs to understand the value and potential of their ideas, identify the problems they were designed to solve and develop comprehensive proposals before approaching prospective partners or investors.

She also stressed the importance of personal presentation, confidence and positive energy in attracting business opportunities.

“Present yourself well and look like someone with whom business can be done. Don’t look like your problem. Don positive energy always. Keep striving. In the end, Allah crowns efforts with success,” she advised.

Exhibitors express satisfaction

At the exhibition, participants displayed various products and services, interacted with prospective customers and explored opportunities for collaboration.
