Heavily pregnant, Hijab-wearing Aminat Idris wins gold for Lagos at National Sports Festival

Heavily pregnant Hijab-wearing female taekwondo athlete, Aminat Idris has won three medals for Team Lagos in the Poomase event on Monday at the ongoing Edo 2020 National Sports Festival.

Her feat will go down in the history of the state’s outing in the festival for giving the state her first gold medal at the tournament.

Idris won a gold medal for Lagos State in the Mixed Poomase event, while she also carted home 1 silver in the Team Female Poomase. She thereafter won a bronze medal in the Individual female in Poomase event.

Lagos also won one bronze medal in Male Team Poomase event which took place inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the University of Benin.

In other event, Team Lagos won silver medal in the female team six-a-side cricket, while their male counterpart won a bronze medal.

Lagos State boxers are making progress in their respective bouts decided on Monday in the ongoing festival

Omole Dolapo fighting in the 56kg won his fight against Sakiru Olaleye of (FCT) with Technical Knock out in less than one minute, while Osoba Abdulafeez (69kg) was too much for Ucheji Evuka who he beat 5 – 0 in an unanimous decision by the referees.
