The Lagos State Muslim community comprising different Muslim organisations, professional bodies and human rights advocates, including members of Muslim students’ associations on Wednesday, August 16, held a peaceful rally at the State House of Assembly, LAHA, complex.
The community led by its President, Prof. Tajudeen Gbadamosi was asking the lawmakers to reject Governor Sanwo-Olu’s 39-man nominees list for commissioners before the Assembly, which had only 8 Muslims against 31 Christians, demanding a reversal and review to reflect 60% in favour of Muslims in a fresh list.
The petition was received by Chief Whip/Chairman Commissioners-Nominees Screening Committee, Hon. Mojeed Fatai Adebola, who alongside his colleagues – Hon. Jubreel AbdulKareem and Hon. Lukmon Olumo; represented the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mubasiru Obasa.
The Lagos lawmakers acknowledged the unflinching support of the Muslim community during the elections, assuring that there would be positive response on their request.
