South-South, Southeast Muslims commiserate with JIBWIS over Sheikh Argungu’s death

• Says renowned Islamic preacher taught them tawheed

The South South, South East Muslim Ummah has condoled the Chairman of Jamā’atu Izālatil Bid’ah wa Iqāmatis-sunnah (JIBWIS) Nigeria and Patron of South South South East Muslim Ummah, Sheikh Dr Abdullahi Bala Lau, on the death of its executive member, Sheikh Abubakar Gero Argungu.

In the condolence message signed by its National Ameer/Coordinator Ustaz Isa Okonkwo, the National Secretary Dr. Sulaiman Alexander Zaagha and the National Publicity Secretary, Mal. Shehu Arise Kagbara, the group described the late Sheikh Argungu as an icon of da’wah.

Muslim News gathered that the deceased was reported to have passed away on Wednesday night after a brief illness and buried at his hometown Argungu.

The Muslim ummah in the south-south/south-east also said the late Muslim scholar was instrumental to her members’ understanding of tawheed (one of Allah) as he always encouraged them to be steadfast and reliant on Allah alone in all their doings.

“Sheikh Gero was part of those that toured the south-south and south-east zones among the exco of JIBWIS in 2020 and was planning to be there again this year, 2023.

“Sheikh Abubakar Gero was known to be a committed, trustworthy, conscious and consistent international Islamic scholar throughout his lifetime and had no attachments to worldly materials. His concept of peaceful coexistence among various sects and non-Muslims is commendable.

“His death is indeed a national and international loss to the ummah and the entire humanity. We admit that death is a necessary end and it must be accepted by Muslims in good faith.
