BREAKING: Nigerian business mogul Aminu Dantata dies at 94

Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, a prominent Nigerian business mogul and elder statesman in Northern Nigeria, has died at the age of 94 after a prolonged illness related to old age.

The news of his death was confirmed by Uba Tanko Mijinyawa, the Deputy National Treasurer of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), via a social media post.

He also noted that details of the late Dantata’s funeral prayer (Jana’iza) will be announced in due course.

Family sources also confirmed his demise, saying that the elder statesman succumbed to death in the early hours of Saturday.

He may be buried later today (Saturday), according to Muslim rites although

Aminu Alhassan Dantata was born on May 19, 1931. The business mogul was versed in investment, particularly, in the finance, real estate and petroleum sectors.

A renowned philanthropist, Dantata spent fortunes in education emancipation, skills acquisition and economic empowerment of the youths.

His disposition to ensuring peace and harmony among business men and politicians in Kano, and Nigeria at large, remained unequaled.

He also also contributed his quota in public service.

He served in Kano state government.

He was also a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee that prepared Nigeria’s 1979 Constitution.

Dantata was also known to have contributed immensely to the growth of Islam.
