The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has completed a life-saving medical mission in Kano, Nigeria, providing open-heart surgeries and cardiac catheterisation to patients in need.
The five-day campaign, held from 18 to 22 August 2025, brought together a 25-member team of highly skilled Saudi medical volunteers, who successfully carried out dozens of complex procedures.
The team conducted several open-heart surgeries and cardiac catheterisations, all of which were completed successfully, bringing renewed hope to patients and their families.
A statement by Mohammed Alsahabi, the Saudi Press Attaché, said the project in Kano is part of KSrelief’s broader global programme of voluntary medical interventions that have made significant impacts in many countries.
He said KSrelief specialists perform these paediatric open-heart surgeries, offering life-saving treatment to children who otherwise lacked access to advanced cardiac care.
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has also performed surgeries in Yemen, Tanzania, Mauritania, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
The statement added that the Kano mission aims to bring hope to patients and families, and to reaffirm Saudi Arabia’s commitment to saving lives and strengthening global medical cooperation.
