Why holiday on Maulid (Mawlid)?
It’s the birthday of Muhammad
The greatest man that ever lived and led
The greatest reformer the world ever had
But no rituals or special prayers on the day
We ain’t meant to celebrate a death or birthday
Read about Prophet Muhammad
He is too famous to be ignored
Born an orphan
Left to a poor guardian!
Never did he see his father
Little did he stay with mother!
Despite the beginning humble
He rose tall from the rubble!
The great Ahmad who is all smile.
The ever ambitious one who is never vile.
Grew under the unkind whether.
Arabia hardly had it any better!
Tending sheep to be skilled in tending men.
Handsome man of most decent mien!
Now a merchant voyaging Shām.
Partnering with Khadija the ever calm!
His morals are too enviable to resist.
Khadija fell for him and the nuptials greatly assist!
Arabia had headquartered idolatry.
Stinking in ignorance and interneciary.
Behold a Messiah emerged!
Not Jesus but his brother Muhammad!
The son of Amina God chose a Prophet!
The son of Abdullah is the Messiah, the truthful the innocent?
Makkah troubled him for ages.
Persecutors now suffer in the Hades.
Idolatry thus languished and then vanished.
Unity of the Creator of the universe, Allah was again established.
Battles were fought in defence and the enemies surrendered or vanquished.
Now flourished the nation that was hitherto impoverished.
Faithfuls gain ever.
Sceptics ruin forever!
Believers replicate his faith and character.
The righteous neither profane nor falter.
Allah revealed to him the Qur’an.
To guide and guard and save from the evils of Shaitān.
Mankind, follow Muhammad to prosper.
Imbibe his virtues and emulate him and companions lest you be a loser.
Who on earth ever nears this man?!
The exemplary leader, teacher, husband, father and a paragon
This is Muhammad the greatest.
The founder of the greatest civilization and the best.
My celebration of you is by love and emulation.
Not by exaggeration or innovation.
Peace be unto you my beloved.
God bless you and whoever in you believed.
