The Dean of Information and Technology at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Prof. Imran Adeleke, has called on individuals and organisations to adopt smart decision-making practices to achieve greater success.
The Professor of Information Systems said organisations should identify the problems confronting them, weigh the available options, and then take smart decisions in solving them.
The Don made the statement at the 32nd annual congress of TMC Lagos held on Saturday at Dawah Centre, Lagos, with the theme, “Personal and Organisational Success: The Dynamics of SMART Decision Making and Execution’.
Muslim News gathered that the congress serves as a platform for the reigning administration to render account of their stewardship over the past year and to elect new executive officers (Wukalu and their Secretaries) to lead the organization’s future endeavors across the 31 Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in Lagos State.
The event was attended by members of the National Executive Council, leadership of the Honourary Advisory Council of Patrons, members of Executive and Executive In Council, Local Government and Branch Executives, founding fathers of TMC and other key stakeholders within the organisation
The guest speaker noted that good decision making will put the organisation in a good position and make individuals focus better and achieve more.

Also in his remarks, the scholar called for a unified voice among Muslim nations including UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and others, in supporting Palestine and ending Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, which has claimed the lives of over 65,000 Palestinians, including women and children.
“It is very important to have a common decision instead of a disjointed decision. If we work together as a united Ummah, it would be easier to support the Palestinians and end the 23-month Israeli genocide in Gaza” he noted.

The respected Muslim scholar commended The Muslim Congress (TMC) for its roles in strengthening dawah (message of Islam) in Nigeria.
He rated TMC highly, noting specifically that the leadership of the Lagos State branch has demonstrated strong performance to date.
“We can score them 70 to 80 percent, which means they are doing very well interacting with society especially at the grassroots and preaching Islam,” he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Waali of TMC Lagos, Mallam Tajudeen Yusuf Olusesi, said the congress was an avenue to reflect on the vision and mission of the Islamic organisation and the efforts his leadership has put in over the course of the year.
He disclosed that the administration has successfully expanded TMC’s dawah activities in Lagos, growing from 104 branches to 121 during the review period.
Olusesi added that his leadership has promoted the knowledge of Arabic among members through the Fushaa Arabic Academy, which provides online Arabic classes to people at affordable tuitions.
“We have made great efforts in the last one year, and our modest efforts revolve around the vision, mission and objectives of the Congress. We have been steadfast on our five point agenda (DEWEP),” he said.
“Our collective efforts have also prompted our artisans to meet 21st century reality in order to remain relevant and make the most of their crafts.
According to him, the organisation’s collective efforts have enabled artisans to bridge the gap between traditional crafts and 21st-century demands, maximizing their potential.
“We have been able to put up a german floor for a Central Mosque in the middle of our site at Alapoti, and commenced Solatul Juma’h to actualise a long time dream of the community leaders and the Congress, but we need more efforts for the actual construction,” he added.

Mallam Olusesi described the 32nd annual congress as a pivotal event, noting it would mark a significant milestone with the inauguration of a new administration for the Lagos State branch.
He said the new Waali for the State will be announced in December 2025 at National Training Programme (NITP) while encouraging the incoming administration at the LGs/LCDAs to work towards the full actualisation of the Alapoti mosque project.
The programme also included presentation of awards of recognition to the three best-performing Local Governments in Lagos State, acknowledging their dedication and exemplary work in Dawah. They are Ikorodu LG (3rd), Kosefe LG (2nd) and Agbado Oke Odo (1st).

In his goodwill message, the Amir of TMC, Alhaji Abdulwasi’i Bangbala, who was represented by Ustadh Abdullah AbdulKareem, National Assistant Secretary General of TMC, said the theme of the congress was both timely and imperative.
“It underscores the necessity for us, as individuals and as an organisation, to embrace strategic planning and effective execution in all our affairs,” he stated.
The Amir cautioned against the pervasive culture of ‘African time’ which involves tardiness, starting events late and missing deadlines. According to him, it undermines credibility and hampers progress.
“As Muslims, punctuality is a virtue emphasised in our faith. Let us, therefore, encourage a proactive mindset within our ranks. Leaders at all levels should be empowered to make informed decisions, and members should be encouraged to take initiative in their respective roles,” he said.
He lauded the Lagos State branch of TMC as being the centre of excellence, noting they have never lowered the standard expected of them.
“We want the current waali to continue with this standard and for him to equally work closely with the grassroots and branches so that we can spread the pristine Islamic understanding that the TMC National Headquarters actually wanted us to achieve,” the Amir said.

In his own remarks, Alhaji Yahya AbdulRahman, MD/CEO of Alpha Bio System Medical Laboratory and first Waali of TMC Lagos, confirmed that the outgoing administration performed exceptionally well in the areas of mobilisation and project execution.
“There is, however, still room for improvement. We still need to mobilise the community. A lot of Muslims just pray in the mosque and go. We need to interact with them,” he said.
The pioneer Waali also charged the new executives to bolster their revenue generation strategies.
“For instance, when we talk of annual due, so many of us are not in that network. We have only been getting funds from less than 60 per cent of the people in the organisation. We need to reach out. We have a lot to do with money, which is part of what is hindering our project execution and programmes,” he said.
