The high-level gathering, themed “Nigeria’s Economy: Any Hope for the Masses? will hold tomorrow, Sunday, November 12, at the Bola Babalakin Hall, Gbongan, Osun State, with Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa delivering the keynote address.
Southwest Muslim leaders have reaffirmed their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his bold efforts in addressing the country’s longstanding social and economic challenges.
This pledge was made on Thursday in Osogbo by the President of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, during a World Press Conference ahead of the organisation’s upcoming General Assembly.
The event is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, November 12, at the Bola Babalakin Hall, Gbongan, Osun State, and will be attended by President Tinubu, the Sultan of Sokoto, and several state governors.
Alhaji Oladejo also responded to the recent designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” describing it as misplaced and unfortunate.
He emphasised that Nigeria is steadily regaining global credibility and insisted that the nation is not experiencing a religious war or Christian genocide.
“Both Muslims and Christians have suffered from the decade-long insecurity caused by terrorists and bandits,” he said, adding that several Christian leaders have also refuted the genocide claims.
Condemning the role of those feeding misinformation to foreign leaders, particularly former U.S. President Donald Trump, Oladejo concluded, “We stand firmly with President Tinubu in every step Almighty Allah guides him to take.”
The MUSWEN president announced that President Tinubu will be the Father of the Day at the MUSWEN summit, while the Chief Host is the Osun state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke with other governors of the South West as Co-hosts on the occasion.
According to Alhaji Oladejo, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, who is the President General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs NSCIA will be the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
He unveiled the theme of the MUSWEN 10th General Assembly: Nigeria’s Economy: Any Hope for the Masses, with the Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule as the keynote speaker.
Alhaji Oladejo hinted that the 10th MUSWEN General Assembly will serve as avenue for the fund raising of Two Billion Naira, aimed at economic empowerment of Muslims in the South West.
“Scholarships/Bursary awards, specialised training in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Data Informatics to make youths employable “, Oladejo said.
The MUSWEN President stressed that the fund would also be expended on construction of a modern headquarters secretariat building at Agodi, GRA, Ibadan.
“MUSWEN plans to provide health care facilities with the state-of-the-art medical diagnostics and other infrastructures for the benefit of the Muslim Ummah across South West, as contained in MUSWEN strategic plan 2019-2030”, he stated.
Alhaji Oladejo commended President Bola Tinubu for his bold economic reforms, which have attracted global investors.
“Federal government should be commended for its efforts at poverty reduction and improvement in primary healthcare delivery”, MUSWEN lauded.
He urged the government to promote inclusivity for adequate representation and participation of all groups in decision making processes.
Alhaji Oladejo also called for a rejig of the nation’s security architecture with continuous training of security agents to be professional and responsive to diverse communities.
