The Muslim Community of Oyo State has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the appointment of Professor Musibau Babatunde as Secretary to the Oyo State Government, describing the move as a well deserved recognition of competence and dedication to public service.
This was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, jointly signed by the Chairman of the Muslim Community of Oyo State, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, and the Secretary General, Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade.
The statement followed the cabinet reshuffle carried out by the governor on Monday, January 5, which saw Professor Babatunde elevated from his former position as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning to the influential role of Secretary to the State Government.
The Muslim Community described Professor Babatunde as a seasoned academic and administrator with expertise in energy economics, international economics and macroeconomics, noting that he distinguished himself through diligence, integrity and professionalism while serving as commissioner.
According to the group, Governor Makinde, described as an observant and discerning leader, must have recognised these qualities, leading to the appointment which it termed “a round peg in a round hole.”
While congratulating the governor on what it described as a sound administrative decision, the Muslim Community also congratulated Professor Musibau Babatunde on his elevation and prayed for Allah’s guidance and success as he takes on the new responsibility, wishing him more grace, in shaa Allah.
