MSSN Lagos inaugurates new executive cabinet after its 2026 annual conference, with Dr Ajibola Yusuf Salami emerging as Amir and Hajia Rofiat Tijani returning as Amirah of the sisters wing.

A new dawn has emerged for the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit (MSSN Lagos) as it inaugurated a new executive cabinet following its Annual Conference held between Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and June 14, 2026, at Sherof Event Centre, Oshodi.

The conference, themed “Sovereignty and Stewardship: The Core of Nationhood,” brought together delegates from across the state and Area Councils, culminating in the dissolution of the outgoing cabinet led by Mallam Kamoldeen Abiona.

It also marked the beginning of a new leadership team led by Dr. Yusuf Ajibola Salami as Amir (President), alongside other elected executive members who will steer the affairs of the Unit over the next administrative cycle from 1448AH to 1450AH (2026-2029)

Muslim News gathered that the process began on Friday, June 12, when a 12 member Shurah Committee led by Mallam Mutiu Adelu of Agege Area Council conducted the electoral exercise in line with Shari’ah principles and the established internal guidelines.

The committee coordinated nominations across 21 Area Councils, screened a total of 36 aspirants, and concluded the exercise with the selection of 16 officers in a transparent and structured process marked by due diligence and internal accountability.

The process led to the announcement of Dr. Salami from Mushin Area Council as the new Amir of the Muslim students body in Lagos state.

The newly elected Amir is a graduate of Dentistry from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos and currently works at Randle General Hospital, Surulere, as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.

Before his emergence, he served the society in various capacities within MSSN Mushin Area Council, where he distinguished himself through years of active service and organisational commitment.

His previous responsibilities include serving as Editor-in-Chief, Assistant General Secretary, and General Secretary of the Area Council.

Beyond the society, he has also held notable leadership positions within the medical community, including President of the Association of Resident Doctors, LASUTH, Ikeja.

In an acceptance speech, Dr Salami paid tribute to the outgoing executive members for their service to the society, noting that they had kept the torch burning and set high standards for successive administrations.

He pledged to build on past achievements and move the society forward, while calling on members to continue to support the new leadership with prayers, advice, and constructive engagement.

Releases names of newly elected executive officers

Other members of the newly inaugurated executive cabinet include Bro Ridwan Aderolu (Ogijo AC), who emerged as Naibul Amir, Bro Hamzah Alagbe (Ikorodu AC) as Naibul Amir COHI, and Bro Abdulkabeer Taiwo Kuye (Surulere AC) as Naibul Amir GRAMA.

Bro Muhammad Mustapha (Agege AC) was elected General Secretary, while Bro Abdulhafeez Odusanya (Kosofe AC) emerged as Assistant General Secretary. Bro Qamarudeen Alabi (Orile Agege AC) was named Financial Secretary, and Bro Sulaiman Ibidunni (Bariga AC) was elected Business Chairman.

The cabinet also includes Bro Taofeek Ogundele (Yaba AC) as Editor, Bro Kazeem Musa (Ifako Ijaiye AC) as Internal Auditor, Bro Habeebullah Akorede (Bariga AC) as Public Relations Officer, and Bro AbdurRoheem Bankole (Olorunda AC) as Assistant Public Relations Officer.

For welfare and academic affairs, Bro Yusuf Okewale (Oshodi AC) emerged as Welfare Officer I, while Bro Abdulhakeem Wusu (Ejigbo AC) was elected Welfare Officer II. Bro S’ad Moshood Abiola (Oto Awori AC) will serve as Director of Studies, while Bro Abdurrahman Sulaiman (Somolu AC) emerged as Assistant Director of Studies.

Also elected were Bro Abdulkareem Yusuf Temitope (Epe AC) as Asset Maintenance Officer and Bro Abdulhakeem Areola (Ikorodu AC) as Assistant Asset Maintenance Officer.

The immediate past Amir, Mallam Kamoldeen Abiona (Surulere AC), and the immediate past General Secretary, Mallam Abdulazeez AbdurRoheem (Kosofe AC), were named Ex Officio members of the cabinet.

Hajia Rofiat Tijani re-elected Amirah, Sister Circle

From the women’s wing, Muslim News also gathered that Hajia Rofiat Tijani is returning as the Amirah of the Sisters Circle of MSSN Lagos after serving in the same position in the previous administration.

She and other members of the sisters wing were formally unveiled at the main conference on Sunday, a day after the sisters electoral conference held at Nawairudeen Central Mosque, Ewenla, Oshodi, marking the continuity of leadership within the female arm of the society.

Hajia Tijani will oversee the affairs of the female Muslim students alongside other elected executives, including Sis Mardiyyah Munabah (Orile Agege Area Council) as Naibatul Amirah and Sis Balqis Owolewa (Coker Aguda Area Council) as Naibatul Amira UMMAHAAT.

Others are Hajia Khadijah Ismail Badmus (Surulere Area Council) as Naibatul Amira GRAMA, Sis Nusaybah Bankole (Olorunda Area Council) as Naibatul Amira COHI, and Sis Rahimah Laraba Ahmad (Agege Area Council) as Secretary.

The team also includes Sis Hafsah Abdurrahman (Badagry Area Council) as Assistant Secretary, Sis Ruqayyah Shijuade Shittu (Igando Ikotun Area Council) as Welfare Officer, and Sis Nafeesah Akegbeyale (Oshodi Area Council) as Treasurer.

The inauguration of the new executive cabinet has been widely described by members and stakeholders as a significant step in the continuous growth of MSSN Lagos.

With a new leadership team now in place across both the male and female wings, expectations remain high that the administration will strengthen internal unity, deepen organisational impact across area councils, enhance school coordination in secondary and higher institutions across the state, and sustain the society’s commitment to nurturing disciplined Muslim students guided by Islamic principles and values.
