Participants at the 7th Anniversary Lecture and Muslim News Awards (MNAwards), organised by Muslim News Nigeria, have adopted a communiqué calling for practical measures to address the misrepresentation of Islam and Muslims in the media and promote fair, ethical and balanced journalism.
The communiqué was issued at the end of the conference held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Olanike Hall, Shamsi Adisa Thomas (SAT) Mosque, First Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos, under the theme, “Framing the Faith in the Midst of Media Misrepresentation and Global Conflicts.”
The event brought together Islamic scholars, media executives, journalists, academics, legal practitioners, medical professionals, public officials, communication experts, captains of industry, civil society organisations, students and members of the Muslim Ummah to deliberate on media representation of Islam and Muslims.
