Don’t blindly support the Federal Government because you dislike Omoyele Sowore. Also, don’t love Sowore’s call for #RevolutionNow because you hate Buhari’s government or you’re a chronic wailer. Analyse and look at the issue with an open mind.
Whether Sowore is seeking for fame or what have you isn’t my concern and of course, I know quite well that this isn’t the Nigeria of our dreams, but calling for a revolution is totally uncalled for and it should be condemned by all, irrespective of political inclinations.
It should be treated as treasonable felony.
In fact, it’s only an irresponsible government that will allow such to happen without acting.
This is a man that contested in the 2019 presidential elections and lost woefully, garnering a measly 33,000 votes out of 27 million votes cast.
Why call for a revolution now when he could have gone to court, the last hope of the poor and oppressed.
I read that he said by today, the government will cease existing and there wont be DSS again. Though I haven’t seen the video, if you have it, assist me with the link, please.
It would have been fair and made a little sense if he called for a peaceful protest or better still, “Occupy Nigeria”, similar to the 2012 fuel subsidy protests, but the term, revolution (synonym, to revolt, rebellion, coup, uprising etc) is too heavy and should not be encouraged by any sane Nigerian who has the love of this country in his or her heart.
Revolution cannot be used interchangeably with peaceful protest, not even now that the nation is yet to recover from the nuisance created by the IMN Shiite group.
Amnesty International(AI) knows the implication of the word, especially in a democratic setting where there is rule of law. That’s why the agency later deleted its tweet calling on Nigerian youths to join #RevolutionNow.
I strongly believe in and I will continue to support calls for peaceful protests. It’s the right of every Nigerian to assemble and protest peacefully as entrenched in the constitution. Religiously, it’s a practice encouraged by Islam, but NO TO REVOLUTION.
Please do stay out of trouble and have a lovely week ahead. Thank you.
