The Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umar Zulum has rewarded the winner of the 2019 King AbdulAzeez International Qur’an competition, Idris Muhammad Abubakar, with a brand new Toyota Corolla car and a sum of five million naira.
Idris, an indigene of Marte local government area of the state defeated contestants from 93 countries to emerge the winner of the annual competition held in Saudi Arabia recently.
Muslim News investigations revealed that the winner outshone other contestants in the pronunciation of letters and vowels, application of the rules of Tajweed, strength of memorization, and fluency during the 60 Hibz (Qur’an chapter 87, surah Al-A’la to surah Nas, chapter 114) category.
While receiving the winner and council members of the Borno State Qur’anic recitation team yesterday, the governor also pledged to sponsor Idris’ studies up to PhD level, adding that, “he will be given automatic employment when he is done with his studies.”
The governor also announced donation of five million naira to the Qur’anic group council for astonishing performance and promised to extend such gesture to any indigene who distinguishes himself and makes the state proud, irrespective of political, religious or tribal difference.
