Muslim News Nigeria Publisher joins Africa scholars for INUAFAM Webinar lecture on July 15 coup attempt in Turkey

Muslim News Publisher, Mallam Rasheed Abubakar will today join burgeoning African scholars across various fields of human endeavour to discuss the African perspective of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt in Turkey.

The Webinar lecture, organised by the Inonu University Center for African Studies (INUAFAM) Malaya, Turkey, will air at exactly 6:00 pm Nigerian time, which is equivalent to 20:00 (GMT+3) in Turkey and 5:00 pm in Ghana.

A statement issued by Dr Kasim Salifu, moderator of the panel session, shows that it is a 4-man panel discussion where each panelist is given 10 minutes to speak to his paper.

The panelists, according to a flyer made available to Muslim News, are: Mallam Rasheed Abubakar, Publisher, Muslim News, Nigeria; Sheik Abdul Nasir-Deen, CEO, Paragon Foundation, Ghana; Dr Mohamed J. Madar, PhD, STI Policy Studies; and Younous Adoasoti, Head, African Students Union, Congo.

Meet the Panelists

RASHEED ABUBAKAR

Rasheed Abubakar is a columnist with Independent Nigeria newspaper and Publisher of Muslim News Nigeria, Nigeria’s most authoritative Islamic newspaper.

He is a believer in ethical journalism which is in tune with Islamic doctrine of fairness and collective good. This has led to his regular and in-depth analysis of how Islam and Muslims are being reported in the media. As a result, he has authored ‘Islam and the Media’, Series 1-4, titled:

SHEIKH ABDUL NASIR-DEEN

He is the founder and CEO of Paragon Foundation, an NGO that is presently undertaking several humanitarian activities in Ghana especially. Through the Foundation, for instance, several boreholes have been constructed in Ghana, and a number of orphans are been cared for in Accra, Kumasi and Wa.

He is also an international speaker who has held conferences on several topics, like Entrepreneurship.

He has also published books on topics such as NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming).

He is a master NLP practitioner, an entrepreneur, and a pharmacist by profession.

Dr MOHAMED J MADAR

He is a PhD holder in STI Policy Studies and Director, Hikma Center for Research and Training.

He is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Hargeisa. An SDGs Advocate, his research area is Education for Sustainable Development, STI policy.

YOUNOUS ADOASOTI

He gaduated from Selcuk University-Konya and is currently pursuing master’s degree at Hacı Bayram Veli University-Turkey.

He is the 2017-2019 President, African Students Association-Konya-Turkey.

He is also the 2018-2020 President- Congolese Students Union, Turkey.

He is the 2019 President, Federation of African students Association, Turkey.

Dr KASIM SALIFU (Moderator)

Kasim Salifu holds a PhD in International Relations and Political Science from Istanbul University (Turkey). He holds double master’s degrees: Master of Art in Migration Studies from the University of Ghana and Master of Philosophy in Business Administration from Anadolu University (Turkey). He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Ghana.

Over the past decade, Kasim has worked as a freelance researcher and consultant for both national and international organizations in Ghana. Notable among these organizations are the University of Ghana, Government of Ghana, UNDP, German Development Corporation, and Songes-Belgium.

His research interests focus on the following areas; Migration and Population Dynamics, Financial Management for Small and Medium Enterprises, Rural-Urban Migration, Migration, Social Change and Development, Labour Migration in Africa, Financial Analysis, Gender and Migration, Transnational Migration, Return migration and Diaspora, Legal & Policy Aspects of Migration, Theories and Typologies of Migration, Foreign Policy Analysis and African Studies, Contemporary Geopolitics in IR, Migration Policies and Social Sciences, Politics, and Society.
