Academy introduces free online Quranic classes, says it’ll make memorization easy

Following the observed decline in the learning of the Qur’an, Muslims have been advised to utilize the inherent benefits of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to read, understand and memorize their Holy Book.

The Director, Overt Virtual Academy, Ustadh Zakariyah Abiona said the use of technology in the learning of the Noble Qur’an will bridge the distance and time gap between teachers and students.

He made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with Muslim News, while unveiling the Academy, with the launch of it’s free online Qur’an Memorization Classes (register HERE).

The renowned Qur’an Tutor said learning needs to be attractive and interesting as many have spent years learning but still unable to read properly, memorize and understand the meaning and message of the noble Qur’an, Allah’s divine gift to Mankind.

In his words, “We discovered that many Muslims today cannot read the Qur’an very well, not to talk of memorizing it or understanding it. Many have been attending Qur’an classes for many years, yet can’t read very well because they couldn’t have access to Qur’an experts (Hufaadh).

“What actually brought about the idea are the achievements of Information and Communications Technology in learning today that we discovered and we can see that learning is gradually moving from brick and mortar classes and hard copy forms to Digital or e-learning nowadays.

“The issue of COVID-19 is just a coincidence. We have registered the company before the incidence of the pandemic and the process of Qur’an learning had even been in operation before the lockdown regulations in the country.”

Speaking further, he added that, “Our assessment of Muslims’ seriousness to islam is that we are very distant from it, most especially because of the language barrier and also because of the way the Qur’an is being taught in our Madaaris. So, we need to make the learning very attractive and interesting while we are imparting the knowledge.

Ustadh Abiona

“In addition, to remove the language barrier, Overt Virtual Academy is also launching the ‘Speak Arabic’ aspect of its Qur’an class, so that students can speak Arabic like a native speaker”, he buttressed.

On getting the people back to the Qur’an, Ustadh Abiona concluded that “We can simply make Qur’an closer to the Muslims by simply making its learning attractive, so that they can easily discover the treasures which Allah had embedded in it and that is why we have packaged a lot of things in our training like Virtual trips and tours to erudite scholars of Qur’an and tours to many places and things mentioned in Qur’an to strengthen the understanding in the students. Students tend to learn better with what they see”.

Overt Virtual Academy is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an ICT Training and Consultancy firm, and are into different ICT training like scratch coding for children (www.codingclass.overtva.com), Qur’an learning and lots more.
