GMP holds 2-Day virtual Convention, focuses on ‘Navigating through Times of Crisis’

GMP flier

The Guild of Muslim Professionals (GMP) is organising a two-day online convention between Friday and Saturday, December 25 and 26, 2020, with leading professionals in the field of media, medicine, agriculture, education and religious propagation to dissect the new normal due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The much-talked-about yearly gathering of the Muslim professionals in Nigeria, with the theme, ‘Navigating Through Times of Crisis: Health, Governance, Economy and Opportunities’ will feature panel discussions on different mind-boggling topics, among them are: Demanding Change: Global Experiences, The Future of Work: Embracing the new normal, Opportunities and Challenges.

Muslim News also learnt that there will be a Virtual Exhibition on ‘Family and Work: In an era of Social Distancing and Work from Home’ to be handled by erudite Muslim Professionals.

Some of the guest lecturers and discussants to grace the 2020 convention are: Prof. Kamil Zakariyyah Omoteso, Professor Ibrahim Oreagba, Hon. Abdul Lateef Abdul Hakeem and Ass. Professor, Dr. Tajudeen Yusuf.

Others are: Dr. Moshood Bello, DCP Tunji Disu, Mr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, Hajia Tope Fajingbesin, Mr. Abdul Fatai Ashimi, Mr. Olatunji Ololade, Mr. Jamiu Olakisan, Mrs. Sherifat Akinwunmi, Hajia Medeenah Thanni, Engr. Suruurah Ogunfemi among others.

Speaking with Muslim News, Arc. Lateefah Olajide said this year’s event will be held virtually, considering the effects on COVID-19 on the world.

Arc. Olajide said the choice of theme was based on the need to adapt to new ways of working, schooling, worshipping, socializing etc due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to her, “With it has come increasing unrest, due to the economic hardship generally faced by citizens. Likewise, the youths are demanding for better governance, accountability, and an end to police brutality. Feelings of fear, distrust, uncertainty and excitement reign as the world slides into an impending new world order.

“All these issues call for change, which can be very difficult and dangerous if not properly managed. How can these changes be managed? As Muslim professionals, what lessons and opportunities can we gain from the current happenings?,” she noted.

Arc. Olajide therefore called on members, irrespective of their location to register to participate via the link HERE
