The lead anchor of a popular talk show, Your View on TV Continental, Morayo Afolabi-Brown has called for a cessation to the incessant discrimination against female students in Hijab.
Morayo, in a terse statement on her instagram page issued shortly after some Christians in Ilorin opposed the Kwara State government’s directive on reopening of the 10 affected schools on Wednesday, insisting that they will not allow the use of Hijab in what they termed ‘missionary schools’.
Muslim News had earlier reported how a irate mob of Christian faithful stormed Surulere Baptist Secondary School and C&S College, Sabo Oke, Ilorin to stop the Muslim girls in Hijab from entering the school premises.

Morayo-Brown, not pleased with the development, particularly the actions of the Christian community in the State of Harmony said, in the social media post, “I can’t believe the blatant and audacious discrimination against hijabites.”
Using the hashtag, #hijablivesmatter, the lead host of the popular TV programme asked, “Someone should explain to me how what you wear, will water down the traditional and orthodox principles of your institution?”
The ace broadcaster, who is a Christian, added: “I attend a school that is unapologetic about its Christian values, yet we have a hijabite in my class. That person chose to attend the school and their values do not change or obstruct the practice of her own religion.”
Morayo called on the Kwara State government and the Christian Association of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter to nip the intolerance towards the Hijab which she described as “madness” in the bud.
She is the 2nd xtian to say something like this. The reality is that xtians are now having upper hands in major institutions in Kwara State and they are intolerant to hijab. Muslim girls working in their enterprises MUST join them during church devotion everyday (PERCULIAR GRACE, SEAP both at geri alimi) which if it had been the reverse, CAN would have been shouting it from rooftop. All these are understood as religious hostility, what I do not comprehend in Ilorin are MUSLIMS harassing their fellow Muslims in hijab. Hijabophobia in Ilorin is worse than in any other states I have stayed in Nigeria. This is my 12th year here. God help us
Oh my God! So sorry dear. This is what is killing us in Nigeria.
Hmm, this is terrible. An irony indeed, if Muslims can be struggling to have their daughters use the hijab in Ilorin. The Christians are growing bolder and extremely intolerant. Nothing is wrong with the Christians. It is we Muslims that are seriously sick. I tell you!
