The management and staff of Al-Qalam Schools, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has concluded all arrangements to host the 2021 Ramadan Lecture targeted at educating parents on preparing their Muslim teens against worldly temptations.
Muslim News gathered that the programme which is the fifth Annual Islamic Public Lecture of the school is part of its Corporate Religious Responsibilities.
Scheduled for the 12th day of Ramadan (April 24, 2021), the public lecture will take place at the school premises in Olonde Estate, Ologuneru, Eruwa Area, Eleyele, Ibadan by 10am.
Top scholar, Sheikh Sirajudeen Bakrin, Imam and Senior Librarian at Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State is billed to deliver the public lecture which is chaired by Ustaz Jelil Oladimeji, Coordinator, Da’wah Companion, Lagos.
Speaking on the choice of the theme ‘Preparing for a Desert Journey’, the Director of Finance and administration of the School, Alhaji Otun Ishaq Ajibola said it’s a known fact that journey on a desert could be tough, terrifying, if any traveller failed to prepare as expected.
According to him, “Muslim teenagers are the travellers, contemporary challenges and hurdles facing them is pictured to be a desert. So, that journey is a must. It is towards attainment of adulthood, but considering their age, inexperience etc, they need help from adults (parents especially).
“We therefore use this means in calling on Muslim parents to support these teens as expected by Allah, otherwise, the journey could be dreadful with temptations (modern fitnah) on their way: illicit fashion, entertainment, gambling, etc.”
Important dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include: Alhaji Saheed Yusuf, Imam, Dundalk Muslim Community, Republic of Ireland; Dr. Nafiu Musa, Lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; Alhaji Lukman Akinyemi, CEO, Akinyemi Electricals; Alhaja Kudirat Aderibigbe.
Others are: Alhaji AbdulGaniy Otun, Imam, Anwarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Ibadan branch and Dr AbdulGaniyy Ajisegiri of the University of Ibadan.
