The International Muslim Women Union (IMWU) has joined other Muslims and well-meaning leaders and organisations across the world to condemn Israel’s gruesome attacks on unarmed Palestinian worshippers at the Al-Aqsa mosque.
The Palestinians were attacked at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, on Thursday, during the Tarawih prayer of the 26th night of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a press release signed by member, Council of Trustees of the international body, Hajia Sherifah Yusuf-Ajibade, on Saturday, the Muslim women group denounced the silence of the world in the face of the heinous crime against humanity, alleging that the occupation of the mosque is in preparation for it’s demolition and construction of a temple.

“The International Muslim Women Union, throughout all its branches and offices around the world, denounces and strongly condemns the heinous crimes and repeated violations committed by the Zionist occupation army on the land of Palestine, in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa squares, through killing children, women and defenseless worshippers and through demolishing homes, confiscating lands and emptying them from their owners to house the Zionists settlers. All these, in full sight of the world and without anyone standing against the horror of this heinous crime against humanity.
They said, “The violations, raids and arrests continue without interruption against the people of Palestine. This year is no different from previous years. Indeed, Zionist aggression is on the rise these days, especially in Jerusalem.
“The expulsion of the inhabitants in the district of Sheikh Jarrah, the confiscation of their homes and the housing of settlers is a flagrant violation against all humanity and against international conventions, laws and legislation.The Israeli occupation is seriously seeking to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque in preparation for its demolition and the construction of the alleged temple in its place.”
The international women body called on the Arab and Islamic world, to unite and rescue the sanctity of the third holiest Mosque of the Muslims and rise to take responsibility.
In her words, “Palestine is slipping away from us day after day, and the land of Al-Israa’ wal Mi’raj is being Judaized one neighborhood after the other. And we in the International Islamic Women’s Union are raising our voice and crying out for the Arab and Islamic world to come to the rescue of Al-Aqsa and Al-Quds and to assume responsibility before Allah and before their people.
“Al-Aqsa shouts at you and Jerusalem calls you, there is no dignity for us and for you except with a free Arab-Muslim Jerusalem. Long Live Palestine free and proud”, it charged.
