Saturday, the 7th day of August, 2021 will be a remarkable day never to be forgotten in the annals of history. A team from Muslim News Nigeria paid a courtesy cum congratulatory visit to the 4th Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaimon Faruq Onikijipa Al-Miskinubillah at his Lagos residence.
Since his return to the Centre of Excellence and state of aquatic splendor, his Harmony Estate, Ojodu residence has hosted the visit of many Islamic Scholars, families, friends, colleagues and well wishers, who have continued to troop in their numbers to felicitate the newly turbaned Mufti.
Sheikh Onikijipa was delighted to have the Team from Nigeria’s most authoritative Islamic newspaper, Muslim News present and granted the team lead and publisher, Rasheed Abubakar the opportunity to address the audience.
“Let me on behalf of Muslim News Nigeria felicitate you on your emergence as the fourth Grand Mufti of the Ilorin Emirate. We pray to Allah to ease the task for you, prolong your life for Islam and reward you abundantly.
“Muslim News Nigeria was established due to the under-reportage of positive news of Muslim achievers in the mainstream media, which only raises its voice when negative things which can be attributed to Muslims happen. The need to ‘blow our trumpet’ by ourselves and celebrate our successes became necessary, because if we don’t blow our trumpet, no one will do so for us.
“That is one of the major reasons we specially dedicate our August 2021 print edition to your emergence as the 4th Grand Mufti of Ilorin, covering the remaining eight title holders. This we do in longing for Allah’s reward in both worlds,” he noted.

Mr. Abubakar therefore assured Sheikh Onikijipa that his media organisation would henceforth pay attention to the reportage of religious programmes and activities from the office of the Mufti of Ilorin.
The peak of the event was the presentation of copies of the latest edition, which has the picture of the Grand Mufti on the cover page, to Sheikh Onikijipa in presence of other scholars, friends, families and students.
Included in the Muslim News Nigeria Team were the Senior Reporter; Abdulwaheed Shotonwa, representative from the Sales Department, Hajia Rasheedah Abubakar and others.
Brief History
According to available information on Wikipedia, Muslim News Nigeria was founded by Rasheed Abubakar, an author, writer and a columnist with The Daily Independent in Lagos, Nigeria.
It debuted in August 2018. It was established due to the media reportage of Barrister Firdaus Amasa’s Hijab saga and several other cases of under-reporting of news about Islam and Muslims.[3][4]

In September 2018, Muslim News Nigeria went online with regular Muslim content and in-depth analyses of happenings around the Muslim world.[5] Its website is fast becoming the most frequently visited Muslim news website by majority Muslims, and some non-Muslims.[6]
