The Nigeria’s Hajj body National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON advance team that left Nigeria on Monday, June 6 has arrived the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in preparation for the 2022 Hajj.
Muslim News learnt that those on the advance team include medical personnel, house managers, feeding staff, Makkah and Madinah reception team members, among others.
Recall that the Commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, held a farewell ceremony with the advance team at the international wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, where he tasked them to set the pace for the successful accomplishment of the 2022 Hajj.
With this exercise he said, Hajj operation has commenced and the rest of Nigeria’s Hajj pilgrims are coming to meet them soon.
Our findings also revealed that the first batch of intending pilgrims for this year’s Hajj from Nigeria is expected to depart the Maiduguri International Airport to Prince Muhammad Bn Al-Saud in Madinah tomorrow, Thursday, June 9, 2022.
The Commissioner, Operations of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Hardawa made the disclosure on Wednesday on a Hausa programme, Barka Da Warhaka on Freedom Radio Kaduna.
Alhaji Hardawa said the inaugural flight with pilgrims from Borno State was expected to take off anytime Thursday after the usual kickoff ceremony.
The Commissioner, who lamented the short notice and clearance for this year’s Hajj from the Saudi authorities, nonetheless was elated that NAHCON was able to secure competitive rates for accommodation, transportation and feeding of pilgrims in the Holy Land.
He said NAHCON has maintained its pilgrims’ accommodations nearer to the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
