Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami has condoned with the family, friends and entire Muslim community in Gombe State over the death of his childhood friend, Sheikh Dr. AbdurRahman Maigona.
Maigona, a member of Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, returned to Allah on Wednesday, July 13, at the Namma Muwada Hotel, Saudi Arabia after a brief illness.
Muslim News findings revealed that the Janazah (funeral prayer) has been held for the late JIBWIS Imam from Gombe in Masjid Al-Haram and his remains buried at the Baqi cemetery in Makkah.
In his Facebook post written in Hausa, Prof. Pantami, who is also from Gombe, wrote, “I received with sadness, the news of the death of an Islamic scholar and member of Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Sheikh Dr. Abdul-rahman Umar Maigona.”
The Minister described the late Maigona as his childhood friend, a great scholar who lived a simple life and spent greater part of his life propagating Islamic ideals and guiding people in the service of Almighty Allah and the path of prophet Muhammad (SAW).
“Sheikh Maigona is one of the known Islamic scholars in Nigeria. He was one of the scholars assigned by JIBWIS to be delivering Tafsir and until his death, he performed the just concluded Hajj in Saudi Arabia”, he said.
While condoning with his family and the Muslim ummah, Prof Pantami, who is equally a renowned Islamic scholar, prayed Allah to accept him as a true servant
“We pray Allah to accept his deeds. May Allah bless him with His mercy. I send my condolences to his family, relatives, children and the rest of the Ummah,” he added.
