The Governing Council of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State has approved the appointment of Alhaja Basirat Olayinka Akintunde as the polytechnic’s Librarian.
Alhaja Akintunde’s appointment takes a retrospective effect from Monday 22nd December, 2022 for a single non-renewable term of five years.
Until her appointment, she was the Acting Head of the polytechnic’s library and currently the Southwest Coordinator, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON.
Muslim News findings revealed that her new position will not affect her statutory duties as a board member of the Hajj commission representing southwest zone.
Recall that Alhaja Akintunde was among the NAHCON delegation that attended the four-day Hajj and Umrah Expo held in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, between Monday 9th and Thursday 12th of January, 2023

The Hajj body has felicitated with one of its board members, in a congratulatory statement signed by its Assistant Director, Information and Publications, Mousa Ubandawaki, on Saturday, January 21.
The Commission’s Chairman/CEO, Alhaji Hassan described the appointment as well-deserved considering her dedication and commitment to work, adding that, “I am thrilled to hear that you have reached your goals. You inspire by having such ambitious dream, then putting in the hard work to achieve it”
“You truly earned this job through your hardwork and commitment.” The statement added that the board and executive members of the Commission value the contributions of the new librarian to the Commission. “I’m so impressed with the contributions you have made to the board and so were the members of the Exco. We are so happy for your achievement and wish you success on your new job”
Brief about Alhaja Akintunde
Alhaja Akintunde, a Chartered Librarian, licensed by the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) joined the services of the polytechnic as Librarian I in 2002.
She had her first degree (Bachelor of Arts ) in Islamic Studies at the University of Ilorin in 1992 and proceeded to the University of Ibadan for her Masters in Library and Information Studies in 2001.
Presently, Mrs. Akintunde is a Ph.D student of Information Resources Management at Babcock University in Ilishan Remo, Ogun State.
