Award-winning songwriter and filmmaker, AbdulRasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz is currently in Makkah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, performing umrah (lesser Hajj) for the first time, barely a year after returning to Islam, the religion of peace he left for Christianity many years ago.
The ‘We Are Africans’ crooner took to Instagram to share the good news with his over 500,000 followers, with different pictures of himself while praying at the two grand mosques in Makkah, and Madinah.
In one of the pictures, the ex-husband of popular Nollywood actor, Funke Akindele was standing in front of the Holy Ka’abah, adorning the Ihram, spreading his palms before Allah and praying to Allah to grant his siblings, friends and the entire ummah success in this life and the hereafter.
The 46-year-old Nigerian filmmaker who had in January admitted in an exclusive interview with Muslim News Islamtainment that though he was born a Muslim, he never practised Islam before he followed his mother to practice Christianity. He posted other pictures with the following captions:
Speaking with Muslim News on Wednesday, November 29, JJC Skillz expressed his happiness performing his first umrah through Al-Hatyq Travels and Tours, a hajj and umrah travel agency that has facilitated the trip of many Nigerian celebrities including Mercy Meenah Aigbe to the holy land.
“AlhamduliLlah, my brother. I thank Allah for the opportunity. It’s an inspiring journey and an experience that will linger on for the rest of my life. My next plan, after this is next year’s Hajj, in shaa Allah”, he added.
