Muslim News gathered that the PHF team visited the schools on 11th October to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child with the students and staff, as they also used the occasion to celebrate the World Teachers’ Day, which is held annually on 5th October.

The team presented awards to best teachers across the schools, noting the gesture was in recognition of their tireless efforts and impactful contributions in shaping the future of the youths in Ogun State.

Speaking on the theme for this year’s celebration: ‘Girls’ Vision for the Future’, PHF’s facilitators across the state stressed the role of education and self-worth, while inspiring young girls to pursue their ambitions confidently.

Female Coordinator of PHF, Hajia Haleemah Morolayo, congratulated young girls on the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, noting they have right to a life that is safe, enlightened and healthy.

“Today’s empowered girls are tomorrow’s moms, workers, businesswomen, mentors and political figures,” she added.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of PHF, Mr. Ismail Olabode, urged the girls to continue embracing selfless service for the cause of Islam and humanity.

He said the celebration of the girl child is not intended to marginalise the boy child.

“Rather, it seeks to ensure that all stakeholders recognise that both genders are integral to the future we aspire to build. Training one should never come at the expense of the other,” he noted.

Olabode urged all stakeholders, including parents, educators, and policymakers, to continue supporting girl education, and creating an environment where every child can thrive.

He also called on Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, to unite in support of the foundation’s mission and to provide financial assistance for the advancement of Islam, the youths, and society as a whole.

In her remarks, one of the awardees, Miss Olayemi Olabisi Mabel of Egba Comprehensive High School (Snr) Asero, Abeokuta, said the award is a push for her to do more in service of the upcoming generation.

“I want to say a big thank you to the Pure Heart Islamic Foundation of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter. Without you, this wouldn’t have been possible. I promise to keep the good work going and never let you down,” she said.

The foundation also organised a special assembly for the girl children in the schools to mark their day.

See beautiful faces at the event
