The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says it has completed the airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
The feat was achieved on Wednesday, May 28 with the last batch of 22 pilgrims and 231 officials, including the Commission’s Chairman, Prof Saleh Usman, who departed Abuja to Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Madinah, in Umza flight UMZ3440 at 23:38hrs (Nigerian time).
Muslim News gathered that operation marked the 105th outbound flight from Nigeria to holy land with a total of 41,568 Nigerian pilgrims from government quota successfully airlifted, while the remaining intending pilgrims of the tour operators are expected to complete airlifting before Saudi Arabia closes its space on Monday, June 2, 2025.
About 63,000 Nigerian pilgrims are expected for the 2025 Hajj, with the nigerian Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima promising to lead the delegation.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the Pilgrims’ Terminal, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, before the final airlifting to Madinah, Saudi Arabia, Prof Usman expressed deep appreciation to the media for their patience and consistent support throughout the exercise.
“You’ve been here since morning, waiting for us. Thank you so much,” he remarked, acknowledging the vital role of journalists in disseminating timely updates to the Nigerian public.
