* Condemns deceitful conversion of Muslim minors
The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Karu Area Council, Nasarawa State, has strongly condemned the alleged unlawful and deceptive religious conversion of Muslim minors during a programme titled “Young, Bold & Dynamic”, held on May 26, 2025, by the Youth and Teens Ministry, Abuja Zone 2 of Christ Embassy.
In a press release, Rufai Ismail and Ahmed Musa Ladan, both Amir (President) and General Secretary of the Muslim students’ body, stated that the event was disguised as an academic and youth empowerment programme but was later exposed as an evangelical Christian gathering that covertly converted Muslim students – many of whom were minors – without parental consent.
“The programme was falsely presented as an academic and youth empowerment event. However, it was later discovered to be an evangelical Christian gathering that targeted and converted Muslim students – many of whom are minors – without the knowledge or consent of their parents or guardians,” the statement read.
MSSN emphasised that the act contravenes Section 38(1) of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion and protection from coercion.
Following the incident, an emergency meeting was convened, and a fact-finding committee was formed by the MSSN. A formal petition has since been submitted to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, with copies sent to Islamic bodies, traditional leaders, and security agencies, our medium gathered.
The MSSN leadership also called for the immediate protection of Aishatu Ahmadu Sulaiman, the individual who exposed the incident.
“Under no circumstances should any harm come to Aishatu Ahmadu Sulaimon. She must be accorded full protection against any form of threat, intimidation or harm. Her safety and wellbeing must be guaranteed by the appropriate security agencies.”
MSSN thanked stakeholders for their support and urged the public to remain calm as the matter is pursued through legal constitutional means.
“Let it be known that no stone will be left unturned in holding the organisers of this deceptive and harmful event accountable for their actions. The safety and dignity of our children must never be compromised,” the statement concluded.
