* Unveils 18-member executive, charges new leaders on accountability
The Ogun State Chapter of the Pure Heart Islamic Foundation of Nigeria (PHF) has urged Muslim youth to embrace resilience and leadership while remaining grounded in their Islamic identity amid the competing ideas, values and narratives confronting the younger generation.
The call was made at the Pure Heart Annual Accountability Conference (PAAC), an annual gathering designed to promote accountability, transparency, reflection and strategic direction within the organisation.
The conference, themed “Resilience in Turbulence,” brought together members, representatives, guests and stakeholders from various Local Branches of PHF across Ogun State and featured presentations, administrative and financial reports, discussions, fundraising activities and recognition of outstanding achievements.
‘Muslims must remain grounded’
In his welcome address, the outgoing coordinator of the Foundation, Mall. Ismail Olanrewaju Olabode, said the theme was particularly relevant to the challenges facing young Muslims in an age of rapid social and technological change.
Mall. Olabode said young people were increasingly exposed to competing ideas, values, cultures and narratives through social media and other platforms, making it necessary for Muslims to remain grounded in their faith.
He said resilience went beyond surviving difficult times, stressing that it involved remaining firm upon the truth while navigating them. According to him, this required knowledge, sound understanding of Islam, strong character and an unwavering connection with Allah.
Mall. Olabode said PHF had therefore prioritised initiatives aimed at educating, mentoring and equipping young Muslims, citing its AMPAL (Ambassadors of Muslim Prefects and Leaders) programme, Pre-BECE initiative, Teachers’ Day activities and International Day of the Girl Child programme.
He said the programmes, which include leadership development, career guidance, Islamic education, academic support and mentorship, were designed to build people, strengthen communities and contribute to the development of the Ummah.
While acknowledging the foundation’s achievements, Mall. Olabode said challenges such as ignorance, moral decadence, poverty and ideological confusion required greater commitment, collaboration and innovation.
He urged members to renew their commitment to Taqwa, sincerity, service and unity, reminding them that every responsibility entrusted to them was an Amanah for which they would ultimately be accountable before Allah.
Rowaiye urges ethical leadership
Chairman of the Occasion, Dr. Jamiu Rowaiye, Giwa Adini, Ijebu Igbo, described the conference theme as timely, saying the current economic, social and institutional pressures made resilience essential for individuals and organisations.
Dr. Rowaiye identified organisational stability, strong character, ethical leadership and spiritual anchor or Tawakkul as four pillars necessary for resilience.
He urged PHF to strengthen its culture of transparency, accountability and proper record-keeping, while diversifying its sources of funding through waqf, strategic partnerships and sustainable projects.
The chairman also stressed the importance of sincerity, trustworthiness, brotherhood and justice, saying difficult circumstances reveal the true quality of leadership.
“Leadership is easy when resources are abundant. But true leadership is revealed in difficulty,” he said.
Dr. Rowaiye charged the incoming executives to uphold Shurah, serve with sincerity and build on the foundation laid by their predecessors.
He also urged delegates to replicate the culture of accountability in their local branches, invest deliberately in the youth and digital Da’wah, and take responsibility for addressing challenges in their communities.
“Do not wait for PHF to solve every problem. Be PHF in your community. Be the solution,” he said.
Prof. Bakre speaks on resilience
A major highlight of the conference was a lecture delivered by renowned Islamic scholar and academic, Professor Abdullateef Bakre, who was represented by Dr. AbdulRazaq Ogunmoye.
Speaking on the theme, Prof. Bakre highlighted the importance of resilience and steadfastness in navigating the challenges confronting individuals and society, particularly in a rapidly changing world.
The lecture emphasised the need for Muslims to remain steadfast and purposeful despite the difficulties and uncertainties of contemporary society.
18 executives selected to steer PHF Ogun affairs
The conference also marked the end of the two-year tenure of the outgoing state executive and the emergence of a new leadership.
The outgoing executives were formally dissolved, while the newly selected executives were unveiled to begin a new phase of leadership in PHF Ogun.
The transition followed a Shurah process conducted between August 22 and August 29, 2026, by a committee comprising PHF representatives from various Local Branches across Ogun State alongside representatives of the National Executive.
The Shurah Committee was chaired by Ustadh Abdul-Lateef Abebefe, while Mallam Abdul-Afeez Adekola of Ado-Odo Ota served as Secretary. Other members were drawn from Egba, Ijebu, Remo, Yewa and Ado-Odo Ota, as well as a representative of the National Executive.
According to the committee’s report, the selection process began on August 22 with the examination of responses received through a virtual nomination questionnaire circulated among PHF members.
A total of 39 responses were received. Following the screening process, 26 nominees were interviewed virtually, after which the Shurah Committee selected 18 nominees to constitute the new Ogun State Executive Committee.
The new executive committee is led by Pharm. Bro. AbdulRafiu Kudaisi (State Coordinator), with Bro. AbdulAkeem Yusuf Fayombo (Assistant Coordinator I, Administrative), Bro. Fadhlullah Baruwa (Assistant Coordinator II, State Missioner), Bro. AbdulGaniy Animashaun (State General Secretary), Bro. AbdulAfeez Saka (Assistant General Secretary I), Bro. Hassan Ismail (Financial Secretary), Bro. Ridwan AbdulKareem (Public Relations Officer), Dr. Hassan Ibrahim (Welfare Officer I), Bro. Idris Nojeemdeen (Asset Maintenance Officer) and Bro. AbdulMuiz Mikaheel (Assistant Asset Maintenance Officer I).

The women’s leadership comprises Sis. Haleemah Morolayo (Assistant Coordinator III, Female Coordinator), Sis. Rasheedah Adesanya (Assistant State Secretary II, Female), Sis. Rizqah Adesanya (Public Relations Officer, Female), Sis. Sumayyah Badru (Treasurer), Sis. Maryam Owonikoko (Welfare Officer), Sis. Fatimah Adam (Editor-in-Chief), Sis. Aminah Ogunmoye (Assistant Editor) and Sis. Hameedah AbdulRahman (Education Officer).
The selection process, which involved representatives from different parts of the state, underscored the foundation’s emphasis on participatory and inclusive leadership.
Accountability, academic excellence
The conference also provided an opportunity to review the activities, achievements, administrative affairs and financial performance of the outgoing administration.
The outgoing executives were appreciated for their service and sacrifices, while the new leadership was charged with building on the foundation laid by their predecessors and advancing PHF’s objectives across Ogun State.
