A video showing British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua listening to the Holy Qur’an and praying inside his car has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread reactions from fans and followers across the world.

The clip, shared on January 1, 2026, by Khaled Beydoun, an associate law professor at Arizona State University, shows the former two-time heavyweight champion speaking solemnly as he reflects on his life, faith and career.

Joshua Seeks Strength and Clarity

Muslim News gathered that the video was recorded before the tragic road accident that occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025, in the Makun area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.

In the clip, Joshua is seen addressing God directly, seeking renewed strength, clarity and spiritual elevation as he speaks candidly about his journey and aspirations.

“I have been praying to God to let me shine brighter again and conquer the world once more,” Joshua says in the video. “I know I can do it, but without Him, I am nothing. I want God to put His hands on my chest and my soul, and make my star shine brighter again.”

Prayer for Spiritual Growth

Joshua also speaks about his desire for spiritual and personal growth, noting that he has been praying for inner refinement and guidance.

“I have also been praying to be fed with things that will enhance me, lift me to a higher frequency, and help my light shine even brighter. I want Him to remove the veil in front of me so that I can see clearly,” he said.

The emotional tone of the clip has attracted significant attention online, with many viewers describing it as a rare and moving display of spirituality by the boxing star.

Details of the Fatal Accident

The video later resurfaced online days after Joshua was involved in a fatal road accident in Ogun State. Muslim News Nigeria gathered that the crash occurred around 11 a.m. along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, near Danco Filling Station, before the Sagamu Interchange.

Two of Joshua’s close associates, Abdul Lateef, popularly known as Latif, and Sina, were reportedly seated on the side of the vehicle that collided with a stationary truck. Both men died at the scene.

Latif served as Joshua’s personal trainer, while Sina was his strength and conditioning coach. Joshua, who was reportedly seated in the back seat of the vehicle, sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Influence of a Devoted Friend

Joshua’s remarks in the video have since been viewed by many as poignant, coming just days before the tragedy. Observers say the clip reflects his spiritual depth and mindset prior to the accident.

Reports also indicate that Joshua was influenced by his late friend and trainer, Latif, popularly known as Latz, who was described as a devoted Muslim and a significant spiritual presence in the boxer’s life.
