Amid the ongoing United States and Israeli strikes on Iran, speculation has grown over the whereabouts of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Prior to that, he has always been a constant presence during the conflict, appearing at press briefings, visiting sites of Iranian attacks, and criticizing Iranian leaders. Yet for days, he has not been seen or heard publicly, fueling online rumors and unverified claims about his status.
Let’s start from March 2: Fact checks confirmed that the last verified public event Netanyahu attended was on that day, when he visited the missile strike site in Beit Shemesh, Israel. The appearance was documented mainly through government‑released photographs, and since then no independently filmed public appearances have been verified by open media sources.
Following the event, the war monger, responsible for the deaths of over 80,000 Palestinians in Gaza, has been missing in public, a departure from his usual visibility. Some Iranian media outlets, including Tasnim News Agency, began suggesting that Netanyahu may have been injured or killed during one of the multiple Iranian strikes.
They showed one of the heavily damaged buildings where he would have been at the time of the alleged attack. Some of these images were also circulated by mainstream media.
March 12: Speculation continued to grow. To douse the tension, after about a week, the Zionist regime released a video of a press conference purportedly featuring Netanyahu, intending to dismiss claims of his death. Unfortunately for them, the video did not achieve their intended narrative.
Instead, it complicated speculation further, as the viral footage appeared to show Netanyahu with six fingers on one hand. Social media users quickly claimed that the video was artificial intelligence generated and that the prime minister might not be alive.
Visual Illusion? Some Israeli media and sympathizers quickly debunked the AI video claims. Pro-Israeli outlets such as Politifact and Times of India confirmed that the clip was authentic and that the extra finger was a visual illusion. Despite this, the video remains central to ongoing rumors.
Arguments continue, with many people still believing that Netanyahu might have died or been injured. They say they will only recognize him in his original public form if he appears at another public event.
March 14 War Chiefs Briefing: While the debate was ongoing, the Israeli war chiefs held a press briefing on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Surprisingly, Netanyahu, who has always accompanied them in previous briefings, was missing.
No official explanation for his absence was provided. Analysts however suggest that the combination of the viral video, gaps in public appearances, and absence from official events has created fertile ground for rumors and online speculation.
While none of the observations confirm that Netanyahu has been killed, injured, or is alive, the controversy surrounding the viral six-finger video and his absence from the war chiefs’ briefing has further fueled the claims.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps has however issued a statement this morning, Sunday, March 15, warning that if the “child-killing criminal” is still alive, he will be targeted.
“If this child-killing criminal is alive, we will continue to pursue and kill him with full force,” the IRGC said, according to Iranian media reports.
