Despite defeat, Man Utd player, Pogba thanks Allah as he performs Umrah

Despite his team, Manchester United being one of the biggest losers at the 2018/19 football season, Paul Pogba has every reason to thank Allah as he is currently in the Holy Land, Makkah performing Umrah, otherwise known as the lesser pilgrimage.

The midfielder, who was one of the club’s unstoppable forces during its just concluded not-too-successful outing, posted on Thursday pictures of him in front of the Ka’abah, the most sacred monument of Islam, on his Instagram feed.

“Never forget the important things in life,” the French midfielder wrote as a caption to the pictures, which also had Chelsea’s French defender Kurt Zouma in it.

Pogba’s pilgrimage comes as Muslims worldwide mark the holy month of Ramadan during which believers fast from dawn to dusk each day, abstaining from food and drink and engaging in intense nightly worship, in addition to five daily prayers. Ramadan fasting is aimed at drawing worshippers closer to God through self-control, remembrance and humility.

The pictures have received close to 3 million likes (2, 963, 115) on Instagram at 11am (Nigeria Time) of Friday, May 17, 2019.

Previously, Pogba performed umrah during Ramadan in 2017 and 2018, shortly before the World Cup in Russia, which was won by France.

Umrah is the lesser pilgrimage to Mecca that can be completed throughout the year, as opposed to the annual hajj pilgrimage.
