Mr Modupe Kadri has formally resumed his duty as the new Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria.
Mr Kadri was in November 2019 announced by the MTN Group as a replacement of Mr Adekunle Awobodu, who has been at the helm of affairs in the last three years.
Muslim News findings revealed that Mr Awobodu was the first Nigerian to occupy the position since the largest phone company set its foot in Nigeria since 1994.
Until his present assignment, Modupe Kadri, a devout Muslim, was the immediate former CFO, MTN Ghana where he served meritoriously for five years (2014 to 2019), and where he assisted the company to become the biggest and most admired telecom in Ghana.
Muslim News can confirm that Modupe’s leadership and superior skills in directing the financial operations of MTN Ghana are evident by the sustained growth of the company in a difficult economic environment.
For his outstanding achievements in the sector, Modupe was adjudged the best best Ghana Telecoms CFO of the Year 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 at the Ghana Finance Innovation Awards held in Accra.
According to the company, Modupe fondly called MAK by admirers has earned great respect within the company due to his dedication, extensive knowledge, financial expertise and experience.
The statement said: “Modupe is accustomed to translating business objectives into powerful results and has led several business critical projects as CFO in Ghana.”
His appointment, MTN Nigeria said, shows their commitment to building local talent and strength of their leadership development strategy.
Modupe received his Bachelors degree in Economics and Masters degree in Management from the University of Lagos, Akoka.
He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
He joined MTN Nigeria in 2007 as General Manager, Finance Operations and was appointed General Manager, Financial Planning in 2013. In 2014, he was acting CFO for three months after which he was appointed CFO, MTN Ghana and has won the Ghana Telecoms CFO of the year award four times (2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019).
