Rawshield PR, Publishers of Muslim News, Nigeria’s most authoritative Islamic newspaper, has concluded arrangements to stage her first virtual lecture series, tagged ‘Islam and the Media’ series in commemoration of her second anniversary.
According to the information available on its Wikipedia account, the newspaper, which runs for 24 hours online and a bi-monthly print edition, debuted in August, 2018 and is published by Mr. Rasheed Abubakar, a Nigerian Journalist and an author who specializes in critical review of the reportage of Islam and the Muslims in the Nigerian media.

To mark the two years of promoting Islam and uniting the Muslims, the Media Organisation is holding her first Webinar on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, with the theme:
Survival of Islamic Media Institutions: Reflections from Nigeria.
In a statement, Mr. Abubakar said the event will feature burgeoning media scholars and respected international journalists as panelists, including the National Missioner, Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur-Rahman Ahmad and Head of Centre for African Studies-İnönu University-Turkey, Asst. Prof. Dr. İsmail Söylemez.
Others panelists are the Publisher, Al-Islam Newspaper, Alhaji AbdulBaqee Yemisi-Coker; Lecturer, Mass Communications Department, Bayero University, Kano, Dr. Umaru Jubril Gwandu; Correspondent, Al Jazeera Arabic, Brussels, Abdullah Eshamy and Journalism Lecturer at Lagos State University, Dr. Ganiyat Tijani-Adenle.
An International security expert and renowned author of the book, Global Terrorism and its Effects on Humanity, Amb. Abayomi Nurain Mumuni will chair the Webinar commencing at 4:30pm (Nigerian time), which corresponds to 5:30pm (Egyptian time) and 6:30pm (Turkish time).
It would be recalled that the publisher, Mr Abubakar led his dedicated team to the Alausa Secretariat mosque, Ikeja, Lagos, last year (2019) during the celebration of the newspaper’s first anniversary.

Meet our panellists
Sheikh (Imam) Abdur-Rahman is the National Missioner of Ansar-ud-deen society of Nigeria. Before his appointment as the Imam of one of Nigeria’s foremost Islamic organisations, Sheikh Ahmad had worked in all arms of the media, both print and broadcast. The respected Islamic scholar once worked with NTA, FRCN, in Ilorin. He was a producer of many programmes on radio, and worked with MITV. He also worked for Herald newspaper and at a point, he edited an Islamic newspaper, The Bloom. Not only that, Sheikh Ahmad had once written for The Punch and Vanguard respectively.
Asst. Prof. Dr. İsmail Söylemez is the Head of Center for African Studies, Inönu University, Turkey. He is also a Faculty Member of Persian Unit at School of Foreign Languages, as well as a Literature Translator from Persian to Turkish.
He has Research on İranian languages and literature, language and identity, language and sociology, history of language. He is a
TRT TV programmer on İran’s Politics to Turkey, Middle East and Africa.
Abdallah Eshamy is a reporter covering Europe for Al-Jazeera Arabic, he is based in Brussels. He is a journalist with 10 years of experience and has produced news stories from Africa, Europe and the Middle East. He was raised in Nigeria.
Ganiyat Tijani-Adenle had her Bachelors degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos. She was Editor Sisters’ Circle in her 2nd and 3rd year and Amirah of the MSSN, University of Lagos in her final year. She finished as the 3rd Best Graduating Student in her department.
She participated in MCAN during her NYSC in Bauchi State and also wrote Diploma in Advertising exams of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON). She was the Best Graduating Student in Nigeria in 2007. She also won 10 academic awards at the induction.
She attended the NTA Television College in Jos and had Distinction in Basic Television Production Course.
She had her Masters in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos and worked as a Graduate Assistant in the department during her studies before she joined Voice of Nigeria as a news programmes producer.
At Voice of Nigeria, she covered Ghana’s presidential election in 2008 and won a Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) Broadcasters Travel Bursary to visit Mauritius to study how the media contributes to the country’s tourism development.
Ganiyat joined Lagos State University as a Lecturer in the Journalism Department of the School of Communication where she currently works.
She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Media and Communication from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK.
She has attended several international conferences in Ghana, United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. She has also published articles in both local and international journals.
Dr. Tijani-Adenle continues to learn and also volunteers as a counsellor with M-Solution Consulting International (M-Sci)
Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu is a Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University, Kano. A recipient of the Wada Waziri Prize for the Best Graduating Student of Journalism of Bayero University Kano, Gwandu also won Media Trust’s Automatic Employment for the Best Graduating Mass Communications Students of Universities in Nigeria.
He meritoriously secured an all-expense-paid scholarship by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) where he got First Class (First Position) during his Masters studies in Mass Communication at Assam University Silchar – India. He received Gold Medal Award, Bipin Chandara Pal Award and Amit Kumar Nag Achiever Memorial Award thereof.
Dr. Gwandu also got First Class Division Diploma in United Nations and International Understanding at the Institute of UN Studies, New Delhi- India.
Gwandu served as a state correspondent of one of the leading national private newspapers in Nigeria, Daily Trust. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Association of Communications Scholars and Professional in Nigeria (ACSPN), African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) and a 2013 Fellow of the Center for International Media Ethics (CIME).
Gwandu has keen interest in promoting religious understanding, peaceful co-existence and mutual harmony among diverse people which spurs him into making presentations of related talks at national and international fora including United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, India, Ghana, Pakistan, South Africa, among others. He was the Director, Research and Outreach, of the Nigeria’s office of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), Kano.
His research interests include Political Communication, Journalism Ethics, Media & Islam, and Communication Law.
Dr. Gwandu is currently the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Relations, Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Alhaji AbdulBaqee Yemisi-Coker is the publisher of Al-Islam newspaper.
