A young lady, Wakilat Kikelomo Zakariyau has made her family and the entire Muslim ummah proud by becoming the overall Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Humanities, Osun State University.
Muslim News findings revealed that Wakilat, a first-class graduate of Linguistics and Communications Studies is the first Muslimah to achieve the feat in the 15-year history of the school.
Wakilat revealed the good news on her social media account on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021, few days after the institution’s 10th Convocation ceremonies held physically and virtually at the school’s main campus, Osogbo, Osun State.
She wrote; “It all started when I hit a 5.0 GPA in 100 level first semester. At the outset, I had no target, but I was focused and put in my best as always. In the long run, I juggled business, leadership, journalism, entrepreneurship, tutoring, mentoring junior colleagues, coordinating several group works, volunteering for NGOs outside school and aiming high to maintain my grade point stance.
“Was it easy? No! Far from it. There were times I cried, got tired, and was frustrated. But the experience was exciting and full of self-discovery. It went up, it went down and at the end, I stood TALL. It took commitment to excellence, discipline, consistency, prioritizing my priorities, laser focus on the big picture, settling goals and PRAYER,” she noted.
The young Muslimah attributed her astonishing performance to the “G-factor”, which she succinctly captures as “GOD, who enabled me to navigate. Alhamdulillah.”
Speaking further, she said, “Then I dedicate it to my parents, Mr. & Mrs. Zakariyau. My rock. I draw so much strength and inspiration from you. Then to my wonderful, beautiful siblings who are my greatest support system. Thank you and I love you so much.
“I owe this feat to everyone who has contributed to my learning experience from cradle till date, formal and informal, directly and indirectly. My teachers, lecturers and mentors. From the provost of the College of Humanities, Prof. Balogun to all lecturers in Communication Department and across all others, thank you so much for impacting and imparting my life. I am so grateful! To the real supportive friends I made and all valuable individuals I connected with in uni, I am glad our paths crossed. I love you all.
“It is the end of a hectic journey for me, but also the beginning of an adventure that leads to success and glory by His Grace. I am super excited about this next phase and I am so proud of myself. Cheering to greatness because the future is brighter than the sun.
“I am a degree hotter.
