Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Prof. Ishaq Lakin Akintola has received a threat message from one Tunde Michael over his staunch advocacy for hijab rights.
Muslim News reports that this is not the first time the Muslim rights activist would be threatened for his efforts on establishing the constitutional right of Muslim girls and women to wear the hijab.
Michael, who sent the recent message with mobile number (08035706397) threatened the professor to be careful in his advocacy for the hijab or else he will not survive.
The message, although poorly written, has been edited for reading convenience without necessarily losing its import.
“This message is written to an Islamic professor named Mr Ishaq Akintola. We want to remind him that schools are known based on their logos and one of the logos is school uniform and on that you can’t change it and to remind you that Kwara State is not an Islamic State. So, all your efforts to set Nigeria ablaze you will not survive. So, be careful on your comments. Thanks. Tunde Michael,” the message read.
The fearless Director of MURIC received a death threat in January, 2020 over his criticism of Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun, a security outfit based in all the six states of the South Western, Nigeria
The death threat was issued under the caption, ‘THIS COBRA NEEDS TO BE KILLED’ and the exact words used were:
‘There is one big COBRA we must kill, before it kills all of us with its venom. This MURIC man, Professor Ishaq Akintola, must be tamed, else he will succeed in destroying Yorubaland with venom from his religious stupidity. He sees, talks, and behaves like a big radical Taliban. He’s an agent of disunity, and must be called to order before it is too late.’
