Muslim News Nigeria celebrates 4th anniversary, releases #MNAwards 2021 categories

Rawshield PR Media, the Publisher of Muslim News, Nigeria’s most authoritative Islamic newspaper, has formally announced the categories for the fourth edition of its annual ‘Global Muslim and Nigerian Muslim Personalities’ awards.

Tagged #MNAwards, the award is aimed at celebrating Muslim achievers who have excelled and made the Muslim community proud, both in Nigeria and globally.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, September 8, the CEO of the media outfit, Alhaji Rasheed Abubakar, said this year’s award is coming at a time the newspaper is celebrating four consecutive years of reporting Islam and Muslims within and outside Nigeria.

Alhaji Abubakar also noted that apart from the yearly announcement of the Global and Nigerian Muslim Personalities of the Year, the #MNAwards2021 will also feature six categories to honour Muslim professionals in media, health, law, finance, teaching and entertainment.

Last year, Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami were announced the winners of the 2020 Global and Nigerian Muslim Personalities of the Year awards respectively.

According to Abubakar, “This year’s edition will be unique. First, it’s the fourth edition and coincides with Muslim News’ fourth anniversary. So, it’s a double celebration for us.

“We believe that in every profession, there are exceptional Muslims who go the extra mile to use their knowledge and expertise to benefit their fellow Muslims and humanity at large. Now, it’s time to recognise their efforts and celebrate them because if we don’t blow our own trumpet, no one will. Besides, as Muslims, no one can write our success stories better than us,” he added.

HOW WINNERS WILL EMERGE

A panel of professionals and trustworthy Muslims set up by the organisers is already putting finishing touches to come up with the overall winners in the two topmost categories — Global and Nigerian Muslim Personalities of the Year 2021.

For the winners to emerge in the other categories, Abubakar said the committee is working closely with the national leadership of five notable Muslim professional bodies in Nigeria: the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN), Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Muslim Teachers Association of Nigeria (MUTAN) and Muslim Professional Accountants’ Association of Nigeria, MPAAN.

According to Alhaji Abubakar, “To ensure that the right and most qualified persons emerge in all these categories, we’ve teamed up with MMPN for the selection of Muslim Media Person of the Year; MULAN, IMAN, MUTAN and MPAAN will assist in the selection process for the winners in Law, Health, Teaching and Finance respectively.

“The last, which is Muslim Celebrity of the Year will be handled by the #MNAwards2021 committee. If more than one credible eligible winner emerges in any category, we would resort to voting and the best among the best will emerge,” he added.

The organisers are seeking moral and material support from individuals, corporate organisations and relevant government agencies in actualising the project, while appreciating those who have been of assistance from the inception in 2018.

“More importantly, we want the winner of the Nigerian Muslim Teacher of the Year category of the fourth edition of #MNAwards to smile home with a lot of gifts apart from the plaque and certificate in appreciation of their selfless service. That is the more reason we need you to support this great initiative,” the organisers said.

The winners will be announced before the end of September, 2022. Award presentation will hold during the Muslim News 4th anniversary event, for which a date will be announced at a later date as Almighty Allah directs, in shaa Allah.
