Ipesa-Balogun holds lecture in honour of late wife, as scholar harps on beneficial charity for deceased

From left: Founder/Chairman, Masjid Monsurat Ipesa-Balogun Foundation, Afeez Ipesa-Balogun; Lagos State Commissioner for Housing Moruf Akinderu-Fatai: Resident Scholar/Director and IMAM of Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, Sheikh Ahmed Alamine and Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area of Lagos Rasaki Kasali during the foundation's maiden Public lecture in collaboration with US-based Alamine Academy at the Mosque hall, Awoyaya, Lagos.

Monsurat Ipesa-Balogun Foundation has emphasized the need to prioritise continuous charity whose benefit returns upon the one on whose behalf it was granted, as long as its benefit exists.

Speaking at the public lecture organised on behalf of the late wife of former Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Chairman, Monsurat Ipesa-Balogun who died on March 15, 2019, as Sadaqah Jariyah, the guest speaker, a Resident Scholar/Director and Imam of Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, Sheikh Ahmed Alamine, said building mosques were among the greatest forms of charity from which the deceased benefits.

He said: “Building a mosque for the sake of Allah is a deed that will always bring great rewards, both here and in the hereafter. No matter how little, creating a mosque offers numerous indescribable benefits. You will receive rewards for each and every person who enters to worship, recite the Quran, supplicate, and more.”

He noted that the late Monsurat Ipesa-Balogun was a source of inspiration and her lifestyle was worth emulation.

“From when I met her till her last day on the earth, she is steadfast on the path of the Deen despite all she went through. She is a true Muslim who solemnly accepts her destiny,” the Islamic scholar said.

He added that a great example of Sadaqah Jariyah is the construction of a mosque. “The benefits of building a mosque are endless, and Allah will continue to bless you even in the hereafter as long as people continue to use the mosque.

“The Prophet (SAW) said: “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuing charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him.”

Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, commended the husband of the deceased for upholding her legacy.

“This is the only thing we can do to honour her by praying that God in his infinite mercy continue to bless her soul,” he said.He added that the best investment for eternal happiness for anybody who left this world is to continue to remember the person in prayers.

“This is the best thing that could ever happen to any human being after his or her demise in this world. This is something that I cherish and I will continue to pray for the husband that God will continue to give him the enablement to continue to remember the great woman at all times,” he said.

The commissioner urged Nigerians to vote rights during the general election, as this will avail the country of prosperity.

“We have an excellent opportunity to rewrite the history of the country by voting for Asiwaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu for good governance. Asiwaju Tinubu has proven over time that if given the opportunity, he will replicate how he developed Lagos State. Likewise, let’s also vote for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to fulfil his remaining promise to Lagosians,” Akinderu-Fatai said.

Mrs, Ayinla Aderonke applauded the husband of the deceased for cherishing the legacy of his late wife.

She added that society needs to be reminded about the hereafter as the gesture is worthy of emulation.

“Society needs to be reminded about the importance of investing in eternal happiness. I have never met the woman but today I heard so much about her well-spent life. From what people have said, she is a wonderful wife and a good mother. I pray that Allah will continue to preserve her in Jannat ul Firdaus,” she said.

Founder/Chairman of the foundation, Afeez Ipesa-Balogun thanked Sheikh Alamine for travelling all the way from the United States to honour his late wife.

He also applauded the guests for sacrificing their time to honour the invitation.

He promised to continue to uphold the legacy of his late wife.
