The Senate has confirmed the appointment of former Lagos Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef as the Chairman of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
Hon. AbdulLateef, a renowned Islamic scholar, revealed the news on Tuesday, May 9, via his verified Facebook page.
“Alhamdulilahi Robbil aalameen. The Senate has just confirmed my appointment as the Chairman NDIC. May Allah grant me success in this great assignment. Aamin,” he posted.
Recall that in January 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the reconstitution of the board of the Corporation and declared the former Lagos commissioner as its new Chairman from the Southwest zone.
Muslim News gathered that other appointees of the Corporation include Prof. Osita Ogbu, from Southeast Zone; Umar Jibrin from Northcentral zone; Mohammed Haruna from Northeast zone; Yasmin Dalhatu from Northwest zone; Simon Ogie from Southsouth zone; Abimbola Olashore Southwest zone.
Those representing their institutions on the NDIC board are Director of Home Finance, Muhammed Ali, member (Rep of Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning); Director Banking Supervision Department, Haruna Mustapha, member (Rep of Central Bank of Nigeria).
The re-appointed members are Managing Director, Bello Hassan; Executive Director Operations, Mustapha Ibrahim; and Executive Director Corporate Services, Mrs Emily Osuji.
