* Calls for mental health support for single mothers against depression
In a heartwarming celebration of resilience, the widows, divorcees, and mature singles of Bountiies Charity Initiative have concluded their empowering charity event – the “Rise and Thrive Parenting RoundTable.”
Muslim News gathered that the groundbreaking initiative, aimed at championing single Muslim women navigating the challenges of solo parenting, has emerged as a beacon of hope and inspiration.
Hosted at the vibrant Brainy Educare Services in Surulere area of Lagos, the event brought together a diverse group of single mothers.
Beyond a mere series of workshops, the Rise and Thrive Parenting RoundTable offered a transformative experience. Attendees gained practical strategies for balancing responsibilities, prioritizing self-care, and navigating the emotional rollercoaster of solo parenting.
The event became a haven for like-minded single mothers to connect, network, and share their experiences.
Inspirational speakers, including the dynamic trio of Dr. Abimbola Onwuchekwa, Dr. Amosu Sakinah and Mrs. Eniola Olajobi, shared success stories that ignited motivation, instilled hope, and fueled a sense of determination among participants.
“Parenting alone can be overwhelming, but events like Rise and Thrive remind us that we’re not alone in this journey,” said Kadiri Medina, a representative from Bountiis Charity Initiative.
Renowned speaker Dr. Abimbola Onwuchekwa challenged attendees, asking, “Is your parenting style taking your children to the edge or giving them an edge in life?”
Dr. Amosu Sakinah emphasized the need for mental health support, stating, “Depression is real, and single mothers are victims of mental health challenges. You need to seek help so that you can be there for your children.”
Mrs. Eniola Olajobi, CEO of Brainy Educare Services, shared a profound insight, saying, “The mood of a pregnant woman determines the emotional state of the fetus, so child upbringing starts from the fetus.”
Attendees not only gained insights from expert speakers but also received valuable resources and tools, such as “Overcoming Parental Inertia,” “Parenting Styles and You,” and “Dua: Your Best Parenting Tool.”
These resources empower single women to tackle parenting challenges with confidence and grace.
“We are immensely grateful for the overwhelming response and support from the community,” added Hassanat Adams.
“Together, we can create an inclusive and supportive environment for single mothers, ensuring they receive the care and assistance they deserve.”
