The Ogun State chapter of The Muslim Congress (TMC) has felicitated with Muslims in Ogun State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-al-Adha celebration, calling on the faithful to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, obedience, and total submission to the will of Allah, as exemplified by Prophets Ibrahim, Ismail, and Muhammad (SAW).

In a statement signed by the Waali of TMC, Dr. Jamiu Folarin, the organisation noted that the Eid-al-Adha festival comes with profound lessons capable of addressing the spiritual, social, political, and economic challenges confronting the world today.

“The celebration of Eid-al-Adha comes with bundles of lessons which Muslims across the world must maximise in reversing the spiritual, social, political, and economic downturn currently being experienced globally,” the statement said.

TMC explained that sacrifice, which remains the central symbol of the festival, should serve as a guiding principle not only for ordinary citizens but also for political leaders and those occupying positions of authority.

“The symbol of sacrifice, which is the foundation of this festival, should be the guiding principle for all Nigerians, especially those at the helm of affairs,” the organisation stated.

The group further called on Muslims to use the occasion to reflect deeply on the essence of the festival and embrace spiritual rebirth through sincere worship, devotion, and righteous conduct.

“It is time for Muslims to bring about spiritual rebirth by taking lessons from the essence and foundation of this festival, which began with the unparalleled sacrifices of Prophets Ibrahim, Ismail, and Muhammad (SAW).”

TMC lamented the growing global crises and maintained that the world appears to have experimented with several socio-political and economic models with little success, stressing that Islamic principles offer tested and sustainable solutions to many human challenges.

“It seems the world has experimented with different models to address the multitude of challenges confronting humanity, with little or no headway. Muslims should avail the world, at the individual, family, and societal levels, of the time-tested Islamic model for providing sustainable solutions to these problems.”

The organisation also appealed to governments and elected representatives at all levels to renew their commitment to the welfare of the people and the social contract binding them to the electorate.

“We appeal to governments and representatives of the people at all levels to use the occasion of this festival to renew their commitment to the social contract they entered into with the people, bearing in mind that Allah will call them to account on the Day of Judgement.”

TMC equally cautioned Muslims against excessive celebrations and acts capable of defeating the spiritual essence of the festival.

“Eid-al-Adha goes beyond the slaughtering of rams, cows, or camels. It is an act of worship that should not be tainted by sin, recklessness, or immoral conduct, but rather characterised by virtuous deeds, moderation, and compassion for humanity.”

The organisation prayed for peace, unity, and divine mercy upon Nigeria and the global Muslim Ummah.
