The Nasir Giwa Mentorship (NGM) Platform is set to mark its 10th anniversary with the fifth edition of the NGM Conference, bringing together young professionals, students, entrepreneurs, business leaders and thought leaders for a day of learning, mentorship, networking and opportunities.
The conference, themed “Building the Future: The Urgency of Now,” is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, at D’Podium International Event Centre, off Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos.
Founded by Engineer Nasir Giwa, NGM has spent the past decade building a community focused on mentorship, personal development, leadership and professional growth.
The 10th anniversary provides an opportunity for the platform to reflect on its journey while looking ahead to the role young Nigerians can play in shaping the future.
According to the organisers, Conference 5.0 has been deliberately designed to go beyond a conventional conference by creating opportunities for participants to engage directly with experienced professionals, gain practical insights, build relationships and access opportunities that can influence their personal and professional journeys.
The conference will feature Russell Rogers, Founder and CEO of Adaptive Foundation, USA, as its keynote speaker. Rogers is expected to share perspectives on leadership, innovation, adaptability and the importance of taking action in a rapidly changing world. His participation adds an international dimension to this year’s programme.
The morning plenary will be chaired by Kola Adesina, Group Managing Director of Sahara Power Group, while the afternoon plenary will be chaired by Idris Ayodeji Bello, Founding Partner at LoftyInc Capital.
Beyond the keynote and plenary sessions, Conference 5.0 will feature a high-level panel discussion, executive networking and the NGM @ 10 Impact Awards, alongside opportunities for participants to engage with mentors and senior professionals.
The conference experience will begin before the main programme. From 7:30 a.m., attendees will participate in pre-event activities and a general breakfast.
One of the highlights will be “Breakfast with NG,” an intimate breakfast and networking session for the first 60 registered participants who arrive early, providing an opportunity to interact with Engineer Nasir Giwa and other mentors within the NGM community.
The NGM Medical Team will also be available at the venue to provide free basic medical check-ups, reflecting the platform’s broader focus on the wellbeing of its community.
The main conference programme will commence with an NGM documentary at 9:55 a.m., followed by keynote and panel sessions, competitions, awards and networking activities. The day will conclude with a post-event networking and mocktail session.
A major feature of this year’s conference will be the grand finales of two youth-focused initiatives: the NGM × Kola Adesina DARE Nigeria Challenge and the NGM × Afropreneur SME Pitch Competition.
The DARE Nigeria Challenge is designed to provide a platform for innovative ideas with potential national impact, while the SME Pitch Competition gives early-stage Nigerian businesses an opportunity to gain exposure, mentorship and support. The top three finalists of the SME competition will pitch their businesses live at the conference.
The conference will also feature the NGM Case Study & Research Competition, which challenges participants to apply research and evidence to contemporary problems and develop practical solutions.
Speaking ahead of the conference, the Grand Mentor and Founder of NGM, Engineer Nasir Giwa, urged members of the community to make the conference a priority, emphasising that the platform was created to provide access to knowledge, mentorship, relationships and opportunities.
He described the conference theme, “Building the Future: The Urgency of Now,” as a call to action, encouraging participants not to wait for the perfect moment before taking meaningful steps towards their aspirations.
He also expressed appreciation to the Conference 5.0 organising team, volunteers, mentors and partners for their contribution to the 10th anniversary edition.
The NGM Conference has evolved into a platform where students, young professionals, entrepreneurs and experienced operators can share knowledge and build relationships.
