On Eid-al-Adha, Fred Kanoute remembers suffering Muslims in Palestine, Uyghur, Others

Ex-Mali international who played for Sevilla, Fred Oumar Kanoute, on Saturday remembered the suffering Muslims in Palestine, Uyghur, India, Myanmar who are being persecuted.

The former football maverick wrote on his verified Twitter handle @fredericKanoute while  rejoicing with the Muslim world on the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha, which was held globally on Friday, July 31.

In these blessed days we can’t stop thinking and praying for our brothers and sisters suffering in Xinjiang (Uyghurs), Palestine, India, Myanmar and around the world… “when one part of the body aches the whole body feels the pain” Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) 🤲🏾

Kanoute, a French-born Muslim with a Malian background, twitted on Saturday:

“In these blessed days, we can’t stop thinking and praying for our brothers and sisters suffering in Xinjiang (Uyghurs), Palestine, India, Myanmar and around the world… “when one part of the body aches the whole body feels the pain” Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) 🤲🏾”

Two months ago, the former African footballer
raised $1m in an online crowdfunding campaign to build the first purpose-built mosque and cultural centre in Seville, Spain, in over 700 years.

During his playing days, Kanoute was among the few Muslim sportsmen that openly supported Palestine’s freedom struggle.

On July 22, he tweeted the iconic picture of him, lifting off his Jersey to display support for Palestine after scoring against Deportivo Coruna during their Spanish King’s Cup soccer match at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Seville January 7, 2009.

If I were still playing football, I would display this shirt every game – regardless of consequences! #FreePalestine pic.twitter.com/VYTal99zDS

He accompanied the picture with a tweet, “If I were still playing football, I would display this shirt every game – regardless of consequences! #FreePalestine”
