Ismaila Badmus: YABATECH new Deputy rector

Dr. Ismaila Badmus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has emerged as the new Deputy Rector (Academics) of the Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH.

Deputy registrar of the college, Mr Joe Ejiofor, who is also the institution’s Head of Public Relations, in a statement released on Friday, said Dr. Badmus polled 75 votes to beat Dr. Pauline Ehirheme of the Department of Office Technology and Management, who secured 13 votes during an emergency meeting of the college’s academic board.

His emergence as Deputy rector, academics came barely a month after Dr Abdul Adedotun Ibraheem was appointed by the Federal Government as the substantive Rector of YABATECH, the first Muslim in 76 years of the college.

Deputy registrar of the college, Mr Joe Ejiofor, in a social media post said, “FG Appoints Dr Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul as Yabatech Rector.”

A native of Ibadan, Oyo State, Dr. Badmus joined the service of Yaba College of Technology in 1997 as Lecturer 2 and rose to the enviable position of chief lecturer in 2013.

Dr. Badmus, a former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos, MSc in mechanical engineering from the University of Lagos, and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, from the University of Ibadan.

Dr. Badmus, a devout Muslim, is a registered engineer with COREN and has published several scholarly papers in both local and international journals.
