Emir Sheikh Tamim attends funeral prayers for 5 Hamas members, Qatari security personnel killed in Israeli attack
Qatar held a funeral procession on Thursday for the victims of an Israeli attack targeting Hamas leadership in Doha.
Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended the funeral prayers at Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha.
Five Hamas members and a Qatari security personnel were killed in the strike that targeted the capital on Tuesday.
Hamas identified its five slain members as Humam al-Hayya, the son of group leader Khalil al-Hayya, his office director Jihad Labad, and three bodyguards: Abdullah Abdul Wahid, Moamen Hassouna, and Ahmad Abdulmalik. A Qatari security personnel, Corporal Badr Saad Al-Dosari, was also killed.
Qatar’s Interior Ministry offered condolences and sympathy with families of the victims, affirming that all necessary measures have been taken “to safeguard lives and property.”
Qatar condemned the attack as a “cowardly act” and a blatant violation of international law, warning it would not tolerate Israel’s “reckless behavior.”
Qatar, along with Egypt and the US, has been mediating to end the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, where more than 64,700 people have been killed since October 2023.
