The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has secured official approval and operational licences from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health for its clinics and medical outposts established to serve Nigerian pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The licences, received on Monday, May 11, 2026, authorise the Commission’s medical teams to commence healthcare services for pilgrims in the Kingdom.
Muslim News gathered that the development comes as the number of Nigerian pilgrims airlifted to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise rose to 22,647 as the airlift operation entered its 10th day.
The Commission, in its latest update released on the night of Tuesday, May 12, disclosed that 19,896 pilgrims had arrived in Madinah, while 2,751 pilgrims landed in Jeddah since the commencement of the airlift operations on May 3.
NAHCON further stated that a total of 55 flights had so far been operated for the pilgrimage, with 50 flights arriving in Madinah and five flights landing in Jeddah.
NAHCON clinics begin operations
As part of its healthcare arrangements for the Hajj season, NAHCON said the clinics and medical outposts were strategically established to provide primary healthcare services for Nigerian pilgrims, including medical consultations, first aid services, and treatment of minor ailments.
The Commission explained that pilgrims seeking medical attention at the clinics would be required to present their Nusuk Card and International Passport for identification and treatment documentation.
It added that pilgrims requiring specialised or secondary healthcare services would be referred to accredited Saudi medical facilities, including King Fahd Hospital and other designated hospitals within the Kingdom.
NAHCON also confirmed that its Madinah clinic had been fully operational for the past four days, providing medical support and healthcare services to Nigerian pilgrims currently in the holy city.
Licensed clinics located in Makkah
The licensed clinics include the NAHCON Clinic located in the Shara Sittin area of Makkah at Hotel Humaira, Umm Al Qura Street, near Old Al Maatani Petrol Station.
Another approved facility is the NAHCON Clinic in the Misfalah Al Tadwa area of Makkah, located at Maatouq Al Qarhi Hotel behind Millennium Hotel on Ibrahim Khalil Street.
The third licensed facility is the NAHCON Clinic in the Mansour Street area of Makkah, situated at Niger House Number One behind Muasasat Alnaqd.
The Commission described the approval of the clinics as another major milestone in its 2026 Hajj operations, stressing that the move reflects its commitment to safeguarding the health, safety, and wellbeing of Nigerian pilgrims throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.
States record significant airlift progress
Meanwhile, NAHCON’s airlift update showed that several states had recorded significant progress in transporting intending pilgrims to the Kingdom.
States such as Ekiti, Kogi, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Plateau, Kwara, and Gombe recorded near complete or completed airlift operations, while states including Bauchi, Adamawa, Lagos, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory also made substantial progress.
The Commission assured pilgrims that efforts were being intensified to ensure smooth transportation, adequate medical care, and efficient welfare services throughout the Hajj exercise.
